Brunch with the Queen of Hearts

004This past Sunday I had the privilege of being invited to brunch with the Queen…the Queen of Hearts Antiques and Interiors in Alpharetta, Georgia, that is! If you have been following my blog for very long, you will know that it’s my favorite place to shop! And…I have taken you there with me at least a dozen times over the past four years. But this time it was their turn to treat us…a lucky group of bloggers, including my neighbor Babs at Upstairs Downstairs and me…to a wonderful brunch and a chance to shop before they opened. You know I was in heaven!

001 And not only that…but they had created a special gift bag for each of us, filled with fabulous goodies! Aren’t they wonderful? And…each one was identified by our initials!

012 As always, I loved every minute I was there…admiring the booths filled with wonderful spring colors!

010And once again, when I got home I realized I had photographed my current favorites! Can you tell that I am in the midst of a tray obsession? I love the shabby finish on this one!

013 And who could resist this gorgeous vintage rooster tray! And on the subject of eggs…

027 …I fell in love with this fabulous vintage egg holder…so unique!

030 Now you know how I love pillows so it should be no surprise that this cute bunny caught my eye!

022 And of course…ever in search of frenchiness…I love the texture of this French grain sack pillow!

019 Aren’t these fabulous…real French canisters in my favorite color combination!

032 And I love this wonderful French toile settee…such pretty details!

017 And even more frenchiness…this fabulous Anduze pot! Are you seeing what I mean about shopping with a theme in mind? lol

028 And I cannot take you to the Queen of Hearts without swinging by one of my favorite booths…filled to the brim with transferware in every color…and this is only a small portion of it! Breathtaking!
I wish to thank the owner of the Queen of Hearts, Stacey Anderson, her wonderful staff and vendors who made us feel so special and gave us the royal treatment! It was such a fun event! And of course, I will go back…as I always do…and take you along with me for more shopping…virtual and otherwise! See you next time! A la prochaine!

Are You Ready for Some Virtual Antiquing?

page3Have you received your virtual tax refund from Uncle Sam? I know mine showed up just the other day. Then how about heading out with me to spend it? Are you ready? Let’s do a little virtual antiquing! And the nice thing is…we can spend whatever we want! :-) We are heading out to one of my favorite shops...the Queen of Hearts Antiques and Interiors in Alpharetta, Georgia!

Blue and White Plates I always linger over my first love…blue and white china! And this vintage set is simply gorgeous!

Tureen I must admit that I have a thing about tureens! This one will definitely come home with me...virtually, that is!

Urn I stop and admire this lovely urn each time I come here. I love that garland. It just looks like it might have belonged to the Empress Josephine!

Mercury GlassI always associate mercury glass with winter and Christmas for some reason…but these lovely bird-topped finials just say spring, don’t they? And...wow!...what a fabulous mirrored footed tray!

Mercury Glass2 And here’s more springy mercury glass including a rooster compote, a bunny and a little birdie!

French fabric chairs Now let’s check out a little furniture! We’ve got oodles of virtual bucks, remember?  Gotta love the frenchy fabric on these chairs! And that pair of urns stopped me in my tracks!

ChestAnd I love this chest with numbered drawers! I’m afraid I would need a little directory to remember what I put in it! lol That grey finish is wonderful!

Lamp I don’t know what it is, but there is just something about this lamp! Maybe it's those lines and the color!

Lamb Mold LampIf you know me, you know I have a thing about goats, sheep and lambs, too. Sooo… you know I love this lamp…made with a lamb mold as its base!

Burlap Pillow You might also know that I love pillows…especially burlap pillows! But what makes this one special for me is the details. I love that red and white checked piping! It just sets off the vintage webbing trim.

Vintage Shoe Forms If you are a fan of vintage shoe forms, there are tons to choose from! And I love the colors of those old glass seltzer bottles!

Floral Container This is really different…a floral container formed from lots of little glass vases!

French Bottle Drying Rack And I have to admire this French bottle drying rack. You may remember, however, that I did find my own bargain French bottle rack in a smaller size.

StatueI love this little guy! If he looks familiar…

Statue…it’s because my oh-so-similar little guy shows up in the background of my projects from time to time…like in my vintage yardstick chalkboard! He was a Goodwill find at under $4.00.

Castor Set I love vintage castor sets and this one is a beauty…

Castor Set2 …as is this one! This one even has a little bell for calling the servants…how Downton Abbey!

Victorian Castor Set But I don’t need a virtual one since I already have a real one…and mine was only $20…and I’m not talking virtual bucks! Woo hoo! And it even has all of its tops…not easy to find. You can see more of my Victorian castor set here. Funny how I am attracted to the same things over and over!

IMG_0203_thumb[5] I think I bought one of just about everything...virtually, of course! Now I will have to ship it all to my virtual house in Provence! So how did you do? What did you buy with your virtual tax refund?

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed our virtual antiquing trip! Please visit these wonderful bloggers and their beautiful blogs to see what they are up to and to find a list of this week’s participants!

Antiquing for Frenchiness and Fall Inspiration

005I love fall…and frenchiness…and antiquing! Sooo…you can imagine how much fun I had heading out with my friend Linda from Nina’s Nest with a little of all three in mind! And since our Goodwill hunting netted nothing, we made a stop at our favorite antiques and interiors shop…the Queen of Hearts in Alpharetta, Georgia where we can always count on some inspiration! One of these finds came home with me! Can you figure out which one? First, look at this fabulous frenchy two piece armoire…love it! Now...I just need a bigger house!

003And…I love this secretary! Look at those fabulous lines and those mirrored doors...gorgeous! I am picturing it painted and slightly distressed...and I’m not usually one to paint furniture.

016Here’s a dresser that is already painted…looks like some Annie Sloan colors to me. You have got to love the lines on this one…fabulously frenchy!

006 Also frenchy…this wonderful French couple in the form of candlesticks! I have a thing for provincial costumes…and pairs…so I love them!

023More provincial costumes…are you beginning to see that I photograph in patterns?…then throw in some farm animals!  I love the idea of framing these vintage cheese labels mounted on ticking! And…goats are a special favorite of mine…I want one!

013And who can resist this vintage-looking bull decorating a wooden bowl? The bull is huge and so is the bowl!

011And what search for frenchiness would be complete without a rooster? I haven’t seen this particular grain sack in red…fun! And you might recognize it because I showed you my version here!

019And I was also happy to see some favorites of mine are still going strong! Love the mercury glass pumpkins…or is it a gourd?

001 And Santos cage dolls are still popular! Great…

santos3…because I love mine…a little less primitive and always the star of my Christmas decorations! To see more of last year’s Christmas tour click here.

010 And we can’t forget fall…with these great felted wool acorns…

024 …and these acorns made of birch bark and pussy willows…so different!

021I love this fabulous chippy urn! Just add more Indian corn, some pumpkins and gourds and maybe a few deer sheds…perfect for fall!

017 Speaking of deer, I love this vintage clock! It just says fall to me!

020And now for a little fun…a little wooden pumpkin man sitting on a little chair! He wants to know…which of these things actually jumped in my car and came home with me? What do you think?

Breton Candlesticks and Quimper wareIf you guessed the frenchy candle stick couple, you are right! Don’t they look fabulous with my Quimper plates? To see more of my collection, click here. Sometimes things just have to come home with someone who will love and appreciate them, don’t you think? That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed a little peek at my finds! Please visit these wonderful bloggers and their beautiful blogs to see what they are up to and to find a list of this week’s participants!
