I am so excited to join the
No-Sew Showcase gang once again to share our monthly projects! As always, they are fun and easy and do not require a single stitch…
my favorite combination! This month our theme is a warm and cozy home…and what says cozy more than a sweater…
…unless it’s a cat sleeping in the sunshine! If Miss Kitty were awake, she would tell you what you need to create this wreath:
- A straw wreath form (I got mine at Michaels for about $3.50 with a coupon.)
- Two sweaters…one for the wreath and one preferably made of wool for the flowers (Mine came from Goodwill. I chose one in cream and one in charcoal grey.)
- Buttons for the flower centers (I took mine from one of the sweaters.)
- Strips of burlap
- Strips of white sheeting
- Stapler
- Hot glue gun
- Straight pins
Here’s what you do:
1. Wrap the strips of sheeting around the wreath from, stapling them in place as you go. This will keep the straw from looking quite so lumpy and showing through.
2. Cut the sleeves from the sweater that you plan to use for the wreath. (Don’t worry…I am going to share a project that will use the rest of your sweater in a moment!)
3. Cut the sleeves open along the seam line.
4. Wrap one of the sleeves around the wreath form, pinning it in place as you go and leaving the finished edge open. (I tried stapling, but it was just too thick.) Stretch the sleeve and overlap on the back side of the wreath as needed to achieve a smooth look.
5. Repeat
# 4 above with the second sleeve, beginning by tucking the unfinished edge under the finished edge of the first sleeve. Then finish it by overlapping its finished edge over the unfinished edge of the first sleeve.
6. Hot glue the sleeves in place. I didn’t bother to remove the pins.
7. Trim the remaining overlap from the sleeves to create a neat back for your wreath.
8. And…
taaa daa!…it’s done! Now you are ready to add flowers!
I used two kinds of flowers for some contrast and texture.

Next, I made five flowers using the charcoal grey wool sweater. It is best to
felt the wool (basically wash it in the washing machine on hot and dry it in the dryer on high) so that it will not fray. But...I think someone had accidentally already done that with mine since it was an extra-large and looked like it would fit a toddler!
lol Here’s what I did:
- I cut flower shapes in three sizes using the pattern that I found here.
- I stacked the three shapes from largest to smallest using the glue gun to add a bit of glue to the center of each one.
- Finally, I added the button. I actually cut the button away from the sweater, leaving the thread intact so that it looks like I sewed it all together. Smart, huh?
Then I just hot-glued them on the wreath and that’s it! I think it looks all warm and cozy and wintery!
And now for what to do with your sleeveless sweater…make a
sweater pillow! It’s fun and super easy, too! I even added another burlap rose!

I’ve been eyeing those cute Christmas throw pillows with trees tied to the tops of a vintage truck or car…always red, of course! They remind me of choosing the perfect tree with my Daddy and my sister and then tying it on the roof of the station wagon for the trip home. So as I was passing the holiday placemats in Target, it should come as no surprise that one of them really spoke to me! It said…I need to be a pillow! lol The graphic was perfect and those fringed edges were just so sassy! And all it took was one look and I knew it would be super easy, too! And best of all, it was under $5.00!
Now that I have discovered how easy soap-making can be, I couldn’t wait to create one with a light, summery fragrance…and nothing says summer to me more than lemons! Add that to the scent of lemon verbena and you have the perfect match! And best of all…it only took five minutes to make…no kidding!
I love adding farm animals to my décor! There is just something so serene and peaceful about them! And…I have been eyeing some candlesticks made using them as a base at One Kings Lane. So the other day, while I was shopping in the toy aisle for my grandsons, an idea hit me…why not make my own? As it turns out, it was super easy and inexpensive!
Here’s an idea I’ve been wanting to try for a while…using star anise to create a little wreath! I love the look and smell of star anise and thought that the little star shapes might add some interest and texture to a mini wreath…plus make the house smell wonderful! I was afraid that finding enough of it at a reasonable price would be a problem…
I am so excited because I finally tried something that I have had on my to-do list for a long time but have postponed, thinking it would be too hard…wrong! In fact, it was really easy and so much fun that I have it on my list to try again…making my own soap! I love soap, especially French milled soaps in all of those fabulous scents that remind me of Provence…but especially lavender! And I have to admit that I have a sort of obsession born of regret…
I have a super easy summery project for you…my Mason jar tea towels! Mason jars always remind me of my grandmother, who spent a part of each summer canning fresh vegetables from the garden…especially her green beans…my favorites! I grew up in the mountains and green beans there are better than anywhere else on earth…but I digress!
I love the look of vintage Mason jars…just the perfect shade of blue and the wonderful patina of the old zinc lids! So I was really excited when I stumbled across this…
And here’s another look…a perfect copy of the vintage Mason jar…right down to the zinc lid!
