Spring Tablescape in Blue and White

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Tablescape in Blue and WhiteI am really excited this week to join some very talented bloggers in presenting The Scoop’s Spring Tablescape Tour! And my tablescape is one that has been cooking in my brain for quite  some time. If you know me, you know how I love blue and white and have amassed a little collection of double happiness and ginger jars over the years.

So you will understand that among my favorite pins is this lovely blue and white tablescape! My heart nearly stopped when I saw it for the first time and I knew, being the big fat copy-cat that I am, that I wanted to create my own version one day. I also knew that I could shop the house for almost everything, but I had one problem…I needed white tulips! So this spring, as soon as they appeared in Michaels (yes…mine are faux), I made sure to have a supply of them for all of my spring decorating!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Pottery Barn Inspired Easter TablescapeYou may remember  that I used them to fill Dollar Tree vases wrapped in burlap for my Pottery Barn inspired Easter tablescape

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Farmhouse Spring Porch …and the galvanized sap buckets that I found at the Country Living Fair on my Farmhouse spring porch! White tulips are my new favorite flower for spring!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Tablescape in Blue and WhiteAnd now, finally, my favorite way to use my white tulips…filling one of my double happiness jars…

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Tablescape in Blue and White Then I added some blue and white candlesticks with long, white tapers…

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Tablescape in Blue and White …and sprinkled in some vintage silverplate, like this roll-top butter dish, a Goodwill find from several years ago.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Tablescape in Blue and White Then I finished it off with a place setting that echoed the colors…blue and white with more vintage silver.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Tablescape in Blue and WhiteAt each place is a beaded plate from Dollar Tree (yes…you read that right), a lotus bowl from Pier 1, which echoes the tulip shape, and a blue and white porcelain dessert plate with a Chinese pattern and silver trim around the rim.  The bowls were another Goodwill find from four years ago (at seven for $4.54!) that I first showed you in my “saladscape” here. The set of six plates…on clearance for only $17…came from Bombay Company many years ago.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Tablescape in Blue and White The silverware is my mom’s Silver Flutes from Towle, which adds just the right amount of simple elegance!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Tablescape in Blue and White Not bad, huh? I think I have done a pretty good job of echoing the spirit of my inspiration tablescape…and without spending a dime on anything other than the tulips!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Tablescape in Blue and White It’s not a perfect copy, but it has a sort of relaxed elegance (if there is such a thing) that I like.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Tablescape in Blue and WhiteI am loving the blue and white mixed with little sophisticated pops of silver and the sparkle of the glass!

Kitty However, Miss Kitty, in usual feline fashion, is not impressed. Her suggestion…next time go for black and white! Hmmm…I wonder where she gets that idea! LOL

  1. As usual....absolutely gorgeous. You cannot beat the elegance of blue and white. I don't know what it is. Your tablescape is magnificent.

  2. Debbie,
Blue and favorite combination....looks beautiful in your copycat table setting. Don't you just love your mother's silver, especially the pierced salad forks? So elegant...

I am so excited to be part of the Spring Tablescape tour with you this week. Thanks for including Botanic Bleu.

  3. It's gorgeous you big- not so fat- copy cat! Cheers!

  4. Madly, madly in love with this!! You have done a stellar job in recreating the original table - wow!! I, too, am a blue and white lover, but mine is put away right now. I used to display it all in my kitchen, but it did not mix well with the granite that I added to my counter tops. The white tulips are the perfect addition and I adore the white napkins that you used. All of the silver on the table creates just the right touch of elegance. I just love this - can you tell????

  5. The blue and white table is one of my all-time favs too! You did the most wonderful job recreating it for all of us! SIGH! I knew that you would have a special table for all of us to drool over! Can you imagine the cost of the one you copy catted? And to think you created yours on a much tighter and wiser budget. This table is a real stunner!!!!

  6. Blue and white... a classic that never disappoints. Always elegant and beautiful. Luv it.

  7. Very pretty, Debbie! It has an Asian quality to it. Suddenly I crave an egg roll!

  8. So striking! I really like all the elements you've chosen and they do reflect the tone of the inspiration tablescape. I can't believe you got those gorgeous bowls at TS for such a great price! I am certainly loving the Spring Tablescapes party and yours is one of the best!

  9. Blue and white always makes me swoon.

Happy to be partying with you at the Scoop's Spring Tablescape Party!

  10. Oh my goodness, Debbie -- your table is gorgeous!! I, too, adore that inspiration picture and you have done a fantastic job of knocking it off! Just beautiful. Blue and white is simply timeless and I never tire of it.
So happy to be touring with you -- I have enjoyed each and every post!!

  11. So beautiful! A true testament to your talent is how inexpensive everything and white are just perfection, ils sont magnifique à la fois!!!

  12. There is just something about blue and white that makes me smile! It is so clean and crisp....perfect for spring just like your beautiful table! Happy touring with you! ~Christy

  13. Elegant, indeed!! I'm a huge fan of blue and white, so I'm drooling over your gorgeous tablescape.

  14. GORGEOUS tablescape!! I love that you mix thrift store items with cherished treasures! I also love Miss Kitty! What an adorable face!

  15. Your table is rather striking, Debbie! You do blue and white better than just comes natural to you. Love the salad plates, so pretty.
    Have a wonderful week.

  16. Debbie,
    Exquisite tablescape, dear friend!!!
Impressive that you had all the components "at hand"!!!
You are a blue & white natural and every detail shows your attention to detail!!!
I do, however like Miss Kitty's suggestion of black & white for your next venue!!!(wink! wink!)

  17. Just lovely...the blue and white makes such a great table setting. The white tulips are gorgeous and look great with the blue and white!

  18. I pinned that table from Veranda too, and your table is equally stunning! Shhh...I wouldn't tell anyone your tulips are faux, they look great!

  19. Your table is beautiful! I love the blue and white color scheme! So glad to be on the tour with you!

  20. Debbie, your inspiration photo is gorgeous, and you've done a fabulous job of recreating the look on your table. I've wanted to do the same on my dining room buffet. I think I need to go get some of those faux white tulips. '-)
This table is definitely a happy one for spring!

  21. I love your copy cat table setting. Blue and white is so classic and the tulips are fresh and springy. Now I may copy you!

  22. You nailed your design inspiration! I love all the blueware mixed with white makes the colors just pop!!

  23. You definitely captured all of the beauty of your inspiration table. I do believe I like your table better that the original. I love your collection of lovely pieces. I have had my table set in blue and white for over a week and have not taken any pictures yet. My husband and I have been enjoying the classic beauty of blue and white for our dining pleasure instead..... Candy
