More Fun Projects with Chalkboard Paint

The school year is just about to start up again and the teacher in me is thinking about freshly-sharpened pencils, book bags and…chalkboards!  Sooo…I thought I would round up my most recent projects using chalkboards and chalkboard paint!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Chalkboard Birds on a StringOne of my favorites is this one…my chalkboard birds on a string! The best thing about this project is that it was absolutely free! I asked you to help me think of six letter words that I could use in addition to spring and here are a few…summer, flower, blooms…and now we can add another one…school!

KITTYMiss Kitty thinks her idea is the best…catnip!

Here's  another way to use chalkboard paint...turn an old picture frame into a little chalkboard. I have this one, made with my Ballard bargains...a boxwood wreath and French script ribbon...hanging near my backdoor to welcome my "backdoor friends."

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Chalkboard Flower Pots Another fun project is my chalkboard flower pots! They make great containers for herbs or fun gifts with the greeting written on the chalkboard label. They are inexpensive and super-easy to make. Wouldn't it be nice to bring one to the teacher on "meet the teacher" day?

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Pottery Barn Inspired Chalkboard Tile Place CardsGot an old Scrabble game? Then you’ve got almost all that you need for these fun chalkboard tile place cards! As soon as I saw them in the Pottery Barn catalog, I knew I had to make my own version!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Yardstick Framed Chalkboard And finally, vintage yardsticks and some slate from Michael’s came together to make this yardstick chalkboard! I love the old-fashioned look!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Fun Ways to Use ChalkboardsAnd just in case you missed it, here is the first set of chalkboard projects that I shared with you earlier this year…everything from wine glasses to labels, tags and more place cards.

I have been having fun with chalkboards…can you tell? However, I have to confess that on the first day of school, this retired teacher will be on the patio having my first cup of coffee and listening as the school bus drives through the neighborhood! Ahhhh!

  5. I'm a director of an onsite after school program. I see roughly 100 students a day. I have gotten so tired of them leaving the cap off of white board markers I've been surrounding my room with chalk boards. I'm so happy they are back in fashion. I like the yard stick board. It would look good on my parent table. Thanks

  7. Fun projects, Debbie. You should open a booth at some little shop and see some of your creative pieces, or an ETSY shop. I'd place an order. '-)
