And I have discovered something about myself...I love lots of greenery, lots of texture and lots of traditional red and green! Always a good start for me...basic white plates. Fun and Easy Snowman Tablescape

♪ ♫ Do you want to build a snowman? ♫ ♪ Here, with the little grands in the house, we seem to find ourselves still ho-ho-ho-ing, so I have one last Christmas-y idea to share with you. However, with just a few color adjustments...more silver and blue, for example...you could actually take this one right on through the winter months or even into a Frozen party...my snowman tablescape!

Pewter and Plaid Christmas Tablescape...with a Fun Christmas Tree Napkin Fold!

I am continuing my classic Christmas theme this year in the dining room with my pewter and plaid tablescape…two of my favorite elements that just say it’s holiday time to me! I have to admit that I love red and green for Christmas…and add some rustic touches of texture and the patina of old pewter and I am in!

A Farmhouse Christmas in the Dining Room

I am so excited to share my Christmas dining room this year because I am joining a group of very talented bloggers for a Farmhouse Christmas! And I have been collecting galvanized and grain sack goodies over the last few months along with some special vintage touches just for this occasion!

 And…here is the result! I wanted a simple look with lots of texture and natural accents with muted shades of the traditional Christmas red and green.

But perhaps my favorite thing about the tablescape is the centerpiece…

…lots of Christmas color tucked in a great old vintage galvanized tool box that I found at the antique fair in Braselton, Georgia this fall! It was love at first sight…and it was only $20! Woo hoo! It was fresh out of someone’s barn…and it had paint splatters and numbers written in Sharpie that I had to remove...

...but I knew when I saw it that it would look fabulous and fit in perfectly with my farmhouse Christmas decor! I added a few mercury glass candlesticks to raise the candles…

…loaded in lots of greenery in a variety of textures…

…then topped it all off with burgundy pillar candles wrapped in vintage webbing that I found at one of my favorite flea markets. Love it!

Once again, I am using my go-to plates for a small gathering…my Chris Madden cream Felice dinnerware…a $10 Goodwill find for a set of four…nested on grapevine wreaths as chargers. I decided to use my Gorham Octette pewter goblets…perfect complement to the galvanized centerpiece and a great farmhouse look. The wine glasses were a Goodwill find several years ago.

A Johnson Brothers Old Britain Castles Pink Christmas salad plate tops off the dinner plate…along with icy faux fruit!

A fringy grain sack tea towel from World Market serves as a napkin at each place. Doesn’t it just say farmhouse? My Gorham Octette pewter flatware with its chunky handles and rustic look is perfect for this tablescape!

And of course, if it’s winter, my handmade ruffled burlap table runner must be on my table! If you would like to make one of your own, you will find the tutorial here.

I love the way the colors on the table are reflected in the hutch…with even more transferware and greenery!

 Can you believe this is the first year I have ever used these plates on my Christmas hutch? It will not be the last!

On the buffet you will find my grandmother’s dough bowl all dressed for a farmhouse Christmas, too…with birch candles, pine cones and faux cranberries…a very easy transition from my fall dough bowl.

My Starry Burlap and Plaid Christmas Tablescape

I am finally almost ready for Christmas! My house is decorated and my table is already set in anticipation of a small family Christmas eve gathering. In keeping with my rustic and simple theme this year, I am using burlap and plaid in the dining room as well as the rest of the house.

And here’s my tablescape…not only burlap and plaid, but I have added glittery stars as well! Let me show you…

To introduce plaid to the table, I have simply added a plaid flannel Christmas ribbon along the edge of my favorite ruffled burlap table runner. You can find a complete tutorial for the table runner here.

I have also layered plaid napkins on top of my favorite Christmas-y dark green napkins using the same fabric…

…that I used to make my wreath and Christmas stockings. You can find a tutorial for the wreath here and for the stockings here.

To add some Christmas-y  sparkle, I have added a red glittery star to each place. Once again, I am using my go-to plates for a small gathering…my Chris Madden Felice  dinnerware…a $10 Goodwill find for a set of four…nested on silver chargers.  My Gorham Octette pewter flatware with its chunky handles is perfect for this tablescape!

I like to mix it up…elegant with rustic, fine glassware with inexpensive…and so I am using my Goodwill $1.00 wine glasses with my Irish lead crystal goblets…fun! I’ve added a red ornament to the wine glasses for a little extra color.

I’ve layered on lots of faux evergreens and berries with one of my favorite decorating finds this Christmas…Pottery Barn’s German glitter stars…a fun find from their outlet store! They are sprinkled all over my house!
 
Still more stars…a star-shaped wreath that I found at Goodwill for under $3.00 back during the summer…serving as the centerpiece surrounding a  rustic lantern filled with a festive red candle. It is elevated on the Pottery Barn inspired monogrammed serving board that I  created for Thanksgiving…super easy and inexpensive! You can see how to make one for yourself here.

My Kosta Boda votive holders are adding even more sparkle to the table…looking like little ice sculptures!

In the background is my hutch, still filled with my favorite blue and white transferware. I love it so much that I decided to make Christmas work around it by adding some pops of red.

My favorite addition…my shabby tool box stuffed with more evergreens and berries topped off with more red glittery stars.
