Vintage Blue Willow Christmas Tablescape

Merry Christmas Eve, everyone! It's time for that last minute rush of baking and wrapping plus anticipating the arrival of guests and family and all that is Christmas! But I wanted to share one last Christmas post with you...my tablescape set with my grandmother's Blue Willow china.

It holds very special memories for me of being offered a brown sugar biscuit at her kitchen table and wonderful home cooked meals with my favorites...her fabulous green beans and her homemade applesauce made with apples from her tree.

But I decided to give it a little bit of "fancy" this year by adding some touches of gold. I had already pulled out my gold chargers, flatware and napkin rings for my THANKSGIVING TABLESCAPE so it was easy to carry them over for Christmas.

The centerpiece has just the right amount of bling....not too much to overshadow the Blue Willow...with pine boughs, tiny lights and gold ornaments...

...and my favorite Blue Willow tureen. Although it is more modern and not a part of my grandmother's collection, it still blends perfectly!

Here's a little peek from above. I have scattered votives and added my brass candlesticks to finish the look.

But I have to admit that my favorites are the tiny little bowls. My grandmother would fill them with warm oatmeal and I admit that I piled on the sugar! ;-)  Even the plates are smaller than modern plates.

On the sideboard I have filled a wooden bowl with more gold ornaments and added faux eucalyptus and touches of gold to one of my ginger jars. The tureen is a thrifting find and another new favorite.

On the hutch is a bay leaf wreath and more gold...

 ...with Christmas tree molds...

...and gold ornaments surrounding my mom's Red Cliff ironstone tureen...another treasure.

Here's a final look. It will be a small gathering with my daughter and my grands but the joy of Christmas will be big! And the treasures from my grandmother and my mother will bring even more generations to our table.

I want to thank you for taking your time to visit us all during the year and I wish you the peace, happiness and joy that only Christmas brings!

Remember to pin it!
