So you will understand that among my favorite pins is this lovely blue and white tablescape! My heart nearly stopped when I saw it for the first time and I knew, being the big fat copy-cat that I am, that I wanted to create my own version one day. I also knew that I could shop the house for almost everything, but I had one problem…I needed white tulips! So this spring, as soon as they appeared in Michaels (yes…mine are faux), I made sure to have a supply of them for all of my spring decorating! You may remember that I used them to fill Dollar Tree vases wrapped in burlap for my Pottery Barn inspired Easter tablescape …
…and the galvanized sap buckets that I found at the Country Living Fair on my Farmhouse spring porch! White tulips are my new favorite flower for spring!
And now, finally, my favorite way to use my white tulips…filling one of my double happiness jars…
…and spilling over into a Chinese-style pitcher and an octagonal ginger jar! I love the way the blue and white make the green leaves pop!
Then I added some blue and white candlesticks with long, white tapers…
…and sprinkled in some vintage silverplate, like this roll-top butter dish, a Goodwill find from several years ago.
Then I finished it off with a place setting that echoed the colors…blue and white with more vintage silver.
At each place is a beaded plate from Dollar Tree (yes…you read that right), a lotus bowl from Pier 1, which echoes the tulip shape, and a blue and white porcelain dessert plate with a Chinese pattern and silver trim around the rim. The bowls were another Goodwill find from four years ago (at seven for $4.54!) that I first showed you in my “saladscape” here. The set of six plates…on clearance for only $17…came from Bombay Company many years ago.
The silverware is my mom’s Silver Flutes from Towle, which adds just the right amount of simple elegance!
And finally, at each place is an Irish lead crystal tea glass paired with a wine glass from Goodwill. I find that mixing high end items with thrifting finds allows you to achieve an expensive look without having to spend a lot of money.
Not bad, huh? I think I have done a pretty good job of echoing the spirit of my inspiration tablescape…and without spending a dime on anything other than the tulips!
It’s not a perfect copy, but it has a sort of relaxed elegance (if there is such a thing) that I like.
I am loving the blue and white mixed with little sophisticated pops of silver and the sparkle of the glass!
However, Miss Kitty, in usual feline fashion, is not impressed. Her suggestion…next time go for black and white! Hmmm…I wonder where she gets that idea! LOL

Debbie,
ReplyDeleteBlue and white...my favorite combination....looks beautiful in your copycat table setting. Don't you just love your mother's silver, especially the pierced salad forks? So elegant...
I am so excited to be part of the Spring Tablescape tour with you this week. Thanks for including Botanic Bleu.
Judith
It's gorgeous you big- not so fat- copy cat! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning!
ReplyDeleteMadly, madly in love with this!! You have done a stellar job in recreating the original table - wow!! I, too, am a blue and white lover, but mine is put away right now. I used to display it all in my kitchen, but it did not mix well with the granite that I added to my counter tops. The white tulips are the perfect addition and I adore the white napkins that you used. All of the silver on the table creates just the right touch of elegance. I just love this - can you tell????
ReplyDeleteThe blue and white table is one of my all-time favs too! You did the most wonderful job recreating it for all of us! SIGH! I knew that you would have a special table for all of us to drool over! Can you imagine the cost of the one you copy catted? And to think you created yours on a much tighter and wiser budget. This table is a real stunner!!!!
ReplyDeleteBlue and white... a classic that never disappoints. Always elegant and beautiful. Luv it.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, Debbie! It has an Asian quality to it. Suddenly I crave an egg roll!
ReplyDeleteSo striking! I really like all the elements you've chosen and they do reflect the tone of the inspiration tablescape. I can't believe you got those gorgeous bowls at TS for such a great price! I am certainly loving the Spring Tablescapes party and yours is one of the best!

ReplyDeleteExquisite tablescape, dear friend!!!
Impressive that you had all the components "at hand"!!!
You are a blue & white natural and every detail shows your attention to detail!!!
I do, however like Miss Kitty's suggestion of black & white for your next venue!!!(wink! wink!)
Fondly,
Pat
