I have to admit that in looking over this year’s projects I have been really surprised at all that I have accomplished! My favorite, however, has to be my master bedroom! I wanted a departure from my more traditional Provencal French country style of decorating to a more feminine frenchy look. Hmmm...the paint color is looking a little off in the night light.
I used what I love as the anchor…toile and plates…what else? lol I do think it has a softer edge, though. I stayed in a pastel color palate with pinks and greens and brought in more white in an attempt to lighten up the room.
Have you ever noticed that sometimes all it takes is finding one right piece to get you started? Well…this lamp was it! It just screams Paris to me! Then I found the toile fabric to make the drapery panels and the rest of the room created itself!
I also found two wonderful frenchy chairs that I recovered and even painted one of them. The hunt for accessories lead me to some fabulous Victorian silver plate pieces hidden in the dusty corner of a thrift store…a sugar spooner doubling as a vase and a wonderful old calling card holder! I also shabbied up a couple of frenchy candlesticks to complete the look
And I even learned how to make piping for the throw pillows! Woo hoo! I love my new bedroom! It finally looks like me!
I also gave the guest room a re-do and finally finished that black and cream toile bedroom that I had been dreaming of for years! It was trial and error finding the right shade of green!
The room has gone through a few changes in accessories and even more that I haven’t shown you. But I am happy to finally to have a place for my guests to stay!
However, I will have to say that my Christmas mantel was the most fun! I made almost everything on it this year and had to start well in advance. The sheet music wreath was my inspiration…and a labor of love! I started with a healthy portion of mercury glass, then I added the sheet music candles…
…and the little snow birds…another easy and inexpensive project!
The finishing touch was the homemade burlap stockings! I still haven’t taken it down!
But by far the most versatile, surprisingly enough, has been the burlap table runner that has been on my table since October and has managed to look good no matter how I set the table…through Thanksgiving and Christmas and even now as I have the table set for New Years…something I’ll show you later!
There were many more small projects that I enjoyed, most of which have links on my sidebar. All in all, I think I have accomplished a lot! Now my question is…what will I do next year. Hmmmm…I am looking around the house even as we speak, thinking about what I want to change! What about you?
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed seeing some of my favorite projects from this year! Please visit these wonderful bloggers and their beautiful blogs to see what they are up to and to find a list of this week’s participants!

ReplyDeleteHi Debbie, you have really accomplished a lot!! It all looks wonderful and just right.Looks like you changed the plates in the toile bedroom! I agree about the burlap runner - one of my favs, too. Linda
ReplyDeleteWhat doth my eyes behold? TWO lovely rooms. I guess when you become a stranger to the bloggy world, you miss things and I definitely missed your BEAUTIFUL Master Bedroom, my friend. I thought your guest room (I remember that tray! Such memories!) was heart stopping, but you nailed it on your master. I love it Deb! I am still planning that trip to Georgia in the Spring. Can I stay in your black and white room? Love ya!
ReplyDeleteDebbie, I've watched with amazement all year as you've done one project after another. You are one talented lady! Both bedrooms are gorgeous. I love the master with the green and pink combo and the wonderful family desk. You should be beaming with all that you accomplished. The holiday projects alone make me envious of your ambition. The mantel is stunning. I need to start planning now to get a plan for my mantel next year. That's always the most difficult for me.
ReplyDeleteAnd the table runner has served you well. Any chance that you are taking orders? I'd place an order asap!
I'm eager to see your tablesetting for New Year's Eve. I need some inspiration!
Happy New Year to you, dear friend. ~ Sarah
Debbie, such beautiful projects that you worked on this year. The mantel with those burlap stockings looks like a magazine shot for sure. My fav is your gorgeous bedroom. I could look at that all day. Thanks for sharing these!
ReplyDeleteWhat a talent you are. I loved everything you did and am sending a link to your blog to a dear friend who will love this as much as I do.
ReplyDeleteDebbie,
ReplyDeleteI adore your bedroom. . .we have the same color palette! The guest room isn't booked fully for 2011, now is it? ? ? Who wouldn't love staying there. That shade of green is perfecto! Your use of music sheets in your Christmas decor was truly inspiring! I am so "at home" with the French Country look (minus the roosters)that I was smitten with it all! My overall favorites are "the hare" photos in your guest room. I think you'll understand more fully come Spring On Crooked Creek!
Fondly,
Pat
Debbie, I love the changes in the master bedroom and the toile drapery fabric is a favorite. I have the same black and white sheets and toile comforter in my guest room. I love the candles and all the special touches you have added. Happy New Year!
