Metamorphosis Monday...or...My Tablescape Closet!

Welcome to my second Metamorphosis Monday hosted by Susan, our "hostess with the mostest" at Between Naps on the Porch! I have made what may appear to be a small step for mankind, but it is a giant leap for a plate addict! lol It is also a sign that I may soon need to be admitted into the Center for Blogging Addiction! After creating my first tablescape, I swore I'd never do it again...too much work. Then I created another... and another... until I began to realize...I need a tablescape closet!!

I started looking for a likely candidate...but did not have to look far! My trusty staff member Kitty soon spotted the perfect location...my daughter's old linen closet! Yes, as daughters do, she got married and moved out...leaving behind a whole passel of stuff that she and my grandson don't need any more. Looks like Kitty and I are left to the task of sorting. Kitty takes a little break to look at the world upside down...a favorite pastime of hers.

And after a trip to Hobby Lobby, where baskets were half price this week, here is the end result! I must say that I am quite pleased with it! I have everything organized...well, if you don't count the stuff still under the bed...and I can see what is in the baskets!

I have been able to fit in a new set of bargain dishes...you'll see them soon...as well as a basket for my candles, a place to stack my 10,000 place mats, more baskets for my tablecloths and napkins, and finally, a basket for random centerpiece stuff. Don't look too closely! You might see the trappings of some of my future tablescapes. I want them to be a surprise!
I hope you have enjoyed my little metamorphosis. Please don't forget to visit Susan to see what she has been up to and to check out the other participants!

  1. Debbie, What a great job you did on redoing this closet for your tablescaping. I can so relate to the addiction and needing some tablescaping space :0) You were also so much brighter than me by taking some great before and after photos...

  13. Thanks for visiting my blog. No, I did not make the football snack tray, I found it on the internet. My son asked me if that would go over your daily allowance of calories. I told him I thought it would go over the calories you are allowed for the entire month. Can you imagine if you ate that thing, you would be hurting for weeks.

  24. Hi there, Tablescaping Diva :) You'd have been welcomed at the stitch-in, but it would have abeen a mighty drive. We're way down south in L.A. Next time? Oh, and the table wasn't all that inspired.

Say, since you have such a fondness for roosters I'll have to try and remember to introduce you to the Captain. H'es quite dapper.

Oh, and then there's all the creative thinking that comes into play...in trying to explain to Russell why I need just "one more dish"...hehe!!!

Wonderful. A tablescapping closet and so well organised. YAY. I think Miss Kitty did a good job for you. Those baskets are lovely looking. I sort of trying to organise my one teeny tiny linen closet the other day and gave up :( Thanks for the inspriation.

Remember that old saying about a women can be never too thin ( boo) or too rich...well add to it, and never have too much closet space :)

  49. Don't you love to be organized, Debbie!

Up in our attic I have several boxes of lovely china handed down to me by multiple generations of woman... I have no where to display these beautiful items but, more importantly to me, I have no where (yet!!) to store them!! How can we use our beautiful items if they're packed away in boxes??!!

So... I'm a smidge envious of you and your daughter's old closet! :-P

    Thanks for sharing!

  50. Until discovering "blog world" I thought setting the table was a lost art - especiallly the use of cloth napkins. It is so exciting to see a recovery of this "endangered species". I have closet space devoted to the accoutrements of the table and LOVE it. A beautifully set table is a creative gesture. The well being of the diner is effected. A closet set apart to gather the elements of the table is encouraging. Kudos to you on the effort - it will make a difference!

  52. Hi Debbie,
I am so glad that you found room to put all of you tablescape treasures. I love to drool over your beautiful tablescapes so keep them coming! It is so nice that you have such a wonderful "helper". Ginger always tries to help out too but she is not so gentle and always has to get her nose in everything - she's not as small as your cute little kitty!

You've got me itching to find some good deals on baskets - Great ideas!
    Blessings,

  62. Not sure what to name him, ran out of names. lol We use to have 50 plus goats, and 50 plus sheep. every year they would have twins, so we would have near two hundred little sheep and goats running around with the adults, until we would sale them off. First time we only had one. Hubby wants to wait on adding anymore animals until we see if I can help care for them, as I used to do. I been calling him Pedro. It may stick, and Hubby wants to name him Outlaw, after the man we got the Mama goat and the Daddy goat from.

  63. You might have taught French, but you have a bookkeepers nature. I think that all bookkeepers have a common gene for organization. I am a retired bookkeeper, and used to be OCD about organization. Not so much as I age.

I once had a teacher tell me I should consider becoming a teacher. I didn't take her seriously, however. From what I can see, teachers and bookkeepers have a lot in common. Both enjoy things where they are supposed to be and the way they are supposed to be. In other words, organized. Really enjoyed your post.

  65. Hi Glenda..I think you are right!! There's something fun about organizing, isn't there? Did you see Tomarie's remark? You know she's a teacher, too! However, I must say that when I'm really busy, I can let things slide with the best! lol
I saw your remark at Nina's Nest. I understood what you meant...but also realized that I seem to be on a farm animal "jag" as my mom used to say!
I guess you saw that General Beauregard Lee is predicting an early Spring...yaaaah! I understand that his accuracy rate is 94%.
I hope you are having a good week! It's always good to hear from you, my friend!...hugs...debbie

  66. Debbie, thanks for your comment about paint in my dr. I realized after you and Melissa talked about paint I needed to edit my post! I was concerned about the drapery design, but as of yesterday afternoon, I decided to go for it. The fabric is being ordered today.

I came back to look inside your closet again this morning. I'm thinking I might do this same thing! Thanks again for the inspiration!

  69. Debbie,
You should do a "To Do" list. I'll tell you what, every time I log in to Blogger, that list stares me in the face like a nagging bird on my shoulder. lol It definitely helps me to get things done. I'm wondering if I need to change my goal to Summer instead of Spring. The time is going fast and the list isn't going down very quickly.
