Simple Valentine Mantel with Easy XO Signs

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Simple Valentine MantelValentine's Day is only a week away but it's not too late to decorate! I find myself being drawn more and more toward simple, easy and inexpensive and this mantel fills the bill! It didn't take long and still has that festive Valentine look without being too cutesy. I just put together some easy-to-make projects and topped them off with one more!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Easy Farmhouse Valentine WreathYou may recognize my FARMHOUSE VALENTINE WREATH...so easy to create! And...I already had many of the supplies in my stash. You can get the details HERE.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT $6 Valentine GarlandAnd here's a new favorite...my $6 VALENTINE GARLAND! I actually just assembled it from purchased items. You can't get much easier than that!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Simple Valentine MantelAnd here's my newest addition...my easy XO signs...adding some hugs and kisses to the mantel!

 Here's what you will need:
  • Pairs of X and O letters (Mine came from Hobby Lobby and were bought on sale.)
  • Coordinating scrapbooking paper in Valentine colors
  • Rubber cement
  • Package of one inch square wooden blocks (also from Hobby Lobby)
  • Hot glue gun
And here's what you will do:
  1. Trace the letters on the scrapbooking paper and cut them out
  2. Using the rubber cement, glue the paper cut-outs to the letters (I like rubber cement because it won't cause the paper to wrinkle.)

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Simple Valentine MantelFinally, hot glue the one inch blocks to the back of the letters so that they will stand alone. I used two on the O so that it would be steady.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Simple Valentine MantelAnd here it is...simple, pretty and not too cutesy! I like the way the two different fonts and sizes on the letter pairs add some interest.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Simple Valentine MantelAdd some pink and white tulips in a favorite double happiness jar and I am all set for Valentine's Day!

And also check out all of my other Valentine's Day ideas by clicking on the photos below. You know that if I did it, that means it's easy and inexpensive!

    1. Debbie, you have the cutest crafts and even though you do them inexpensively, they look so expensive. You should be teaching crafts.
