Fun and Easy Peeps Christmas Candles

I am excited to join Celebrations of Home for our monthly share and this time the subject is...what else?...Christmas! If you are like me, you have put up the tree and decorated the mantel but are still looking for a few finishing touches to add to this year's decorations. Well...I have just the project for you! It's fun, inexpensive and so easy that the kiddos can help!

It's my Peeps Christmas candles! You only need a few things and a few minutes to make them.
Here's what you will need:

• Two jars per candle, sized so that one fits inside the other and leaves some space between (Mine are 4 inches and 2 1/2 inches wide.)
• One package of Peeps per candle (I found trees and snowmen.)
• Votive candle in a candle holder (Mine are actually the flickering battery-operated kind.)
• Ribbon and other embellishments 

And here's what you will do:

1. Line the larger jar with the Peeps.
2. Fit the smaller jar inside of it. This not only helps to hold the Peeps in place, but also allows a space for the candle.
3. Place the votive candle in the candle holder and place them inside the smaller jar. If you choose to use a real candle, be sure to use caution as you would with any lighted candle.
4. Tie a colorful ribbon and add small ornaments or other embellishments.

Then just turn on the little candle and enjoy! I placed mine under my little tabletop tree so that the little grands could admire their handiwork. Now that my daughter and the grands live with me, it's important for them to feel some ownership in the decorations!

And Miss Kitty says that the really nice thing about this project is that you can eat the leftovers... although she prefers something a little fishier!

Here's another look! I love the little touch of whimsy that they add to my decorations, especially for the grands!
