Easy Faux Tin House Lanterns

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Easy Faux Tin House LanternsI have a fun and easy little project to share today…one that I had been hoping to figure out in time for Christmas…and I did! I don’t know about you, but I love looking at beautiful photos of Scandinavian homes all dressed for Christmas...and they almost always include some sort of lantern or candle holders that are made of tin. So when I spied some wonderful tin house lanterns, I fell in love! Only problem…most of them are over $50 EACH! Yikes! Sooo…my little wheels started turning!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Easy Faux Tin House Lanterns And here’s how I created mine for under $5.00 each! Yaay! And it’s so easy that I am almost embarrassed to even call this a tutorial!
Here’s what you will need:
  • Paper mâché houses (I found mine at Hobby Lobby half price. You can find them priced individually in the store or buy the set online here.)
  • Rust-oleum Hammered Silver spray paint
That’s it!
And here’s what you will do:
Spray several coats of the paint on the houses, being sure to paint the inside, too. Let dry between coats.
Could it be any easier?

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT DIY Vintage Tartlet TealightsAnd for more Scandinavian Christmas décor…this time with real tin…here are my VINTAGE TARTLET TEALIGHTS. They are also super easy to make and a fun addition to the holiday table!

Baby Kitty Baby Kitty is just excited that we have finally had a cold spell here and we have had our first fire in the fireplace! And I have to agree…that’s one of my favorite things about winter besides Christmas! How about you?

Remember to pin it!
