Easy Dollar Store Pastry Stand

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Dollar Store Pastry StandI am joining some crafty ladies to take the Great Dollar Store Challenge…right up my alley, don’t you think?  And my creation will come in handy for Valentine's Day, too…a DIY fancy-looking but super-inexpensive pastry stand guaranteed to make your goodies the star of the Valentine gifts! :-)

Baby KittyHere’s the challenge…take a simple glass candlestick and repurpose it in a totally different way! Sooo…I headed out to Dollar Tree and came home with my supplies…the candlestick (#1) and a candle plate (#2). I also remembered a fun little cloche (#3) that I already had and pulled it out to add to my creation. However, you could substitute a Dollar Tree vase turned upside down as well. Baby Kitty says that this is so easy that he even has time for a quick bath!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Dollar Store Pastry Stand In fact, this is so super easy that I am almost embarrassed! Just set your glue gun on high temperature and add a bead of  hot glue around the top rim of the candlestick. Then affix it to the candle plate, making sure to center it. And that’s it!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Dollar Store Pastry StandNow top it off with a pretty doily and the treat of your choice and…taaa daaa! You’ve got a cute little cupcake or pastry stand that only cost $2.00!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Dollar Store Pastry StandAs a finishing touch, I added my little cloche tied with a festive bow for a more Valentine-y look! And don’t forget…you could even use an upside-down Dollar Tree vase as an easy and inexpensive substitute cloche! Now your cupcake looks like so much more without breaking the bank...a perfect little gift! And the stand can be reused in so many different ways!

Great Dollar Store ChallengeBe sure to head over to Barb’s at The Everyday Home or one of the co-hosts to link up and to find out what the other party-goers have created!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Pottery Barn Inspired No-Sew Tea Towel And just in case you missed it, here’s another idea for an easy and inexpensive Valentine gift…my no-sew Pottery Barn inspired tea towel! You will find the complete tutorial, including the free graphic, by clicking here.
