My patio is up and running this year and includes some old favorites…such as my shabby picnic basket planter which is making its third appearance! Love it…and so do the begonias. It was made from a $3.93 Goodwill find! It had gotten a little too shabby and needed a little freshening up, so I repeated the original painting process. Directions for making it can be found here.
My little flower pot man is back…sporting a moss rose hair-do for summer. He stood up the first summer, but is sitting down again this year.
The little water feature is back also. I just love the sound of water…so soothing! Miss Kitty loves it, too, since she considers it her personal drinking fountain!
By mid-summer, the water hyacinths will be blooming…breathtaking! But…each bloom opens at night and only lasts one day!
And of course, the catnip is back! However, this year I have had to cage it thanks to this neighbor who bit each plant all the way down to the dirt and killed them all last year! Naughty fellow! My staff hardly got to enjoy it at all! I’ll take it out when the staff and I are enjoying the patio.
Here’s the lovely Miss Kitty acting goofy over the catnip year before last! Does it make her high? I don’t think so. She’s just goofy! She even acts like a fool over strawberries as you may recall!
And perhaps the best of all…the ginger lilies beside the patio are also up and growing! By fall they will be blooming again like this! I think it is one of the sweetest fragrances around…and so it seems do the hummingbird moths! I’ll be waiting for them to make their annual appearance! Do you have special favorites on your porch or patio that make an appearance each year?
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed a little peek at my patio! Please visit these wonderful bloggers and their beautiful blogs to see what they are up to and to find a list of this week’s participants!

I think I'm heading off to Goodwill right now ~ adorable planter you made :) Laughing about the catnip...caged! hillarious!
ReplyDeleteYour picnic basket planter is beautiful, Debbie! I love that idea and how it looks.
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific basket/planting project. I am going to check that out next.
ReplyDeleteI looked out one day and found the neighbor cat rolling all over the cat nip. No sense of boundaries with cats. Silly.
I love how they rub their faces on things. Darling pictures!
Of course Miss Kitty knows that the fountain is there...for her!
I love your picnic basket planter! So pretty!
ReplyDeleteYour patio is like a cocktail lounge for Miss Kitty. Drinks and I'm not sure what we should call catnip! Good for her. The cage over the catnip cracked me up!

ReplyDeleteOh your patio is wonderful and I love the basket. Great idea. Thanks tons for joining TTT. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteIt all looks so beautiful -- a real retreat area! I am really wanting to add a water feature outside of my gazebo this year ... love yours and that picnic basket with the begonias!
ReplyDeleteI just love it all, especially that adorable terra cotta man and the gorgeous ginger lily. I wish my patio areas were half so lovely!
ReplyDeleteDebbie I love it all!! The suitcase, the little terra cotta man and that sweet water fountain!!
ReplyDeleteDebbie,
ReplyDeleteOh, my...loveliness surrounds you!!! Shame on that neighbor cat! Miss Kitty seemed to enjoy herself so in the cat nip and I do hope she gets to again, soon!I'm sharing your link with a friend of mine whose been wanting a pot person. Thanks!
Fondly,
Pat
Your patio is looking wonderful. That Shabby suitcase is a neat idea. Ms, Kitty is very pretty too. Pat
ReplyDeleteIt all looks so beautiful :o) I leave an upturned wire hanging basket over my catnip to stop the pusses destroying it, it's worked well for over three years now.
ReplyDeleteI love the little pot man, I remember when you made him-just so cute! Why is there always one neighbor that just makes you shake your head?:@)
ReplyDeleteYour picnic basket planter is still one of my favorites of the projects you have shown. Every year I say I need to find one.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are so beautiful, Debbie. I can imagine their fragrance too...Christine
ReplyDeleteIt's all so creative and lots of fun. Thanks for sharing. I found your post at My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia.

Debbie - I just adore the idea of putting flowers in that vintage picnic basket! Adorable! And I can't believe how healthy your water hyacinth look! :)

Your patio garden is beautiful. It's so nice to sit out in the evening and enjoy a beautiful yard. Thanks for sharing. Or I should thank your staff. They look like such hard workers.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea...I have a wicker suitcase-y thing like that. I wish mine was painted white like yours.
ReplyDelete-Linsey
Your patio area is a fun spot with your special outdoor touches among the flowers. So delightful!
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
Love this idea, so pretty! thanks for linking up.

I do love that picnic basket planter. I have some things I bring out each year and enjoy on the deck. I'm afraid not much will get done until I get back home whenever that will be. Hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteLove all the pretty things in your garden. Your begonias look so lush in the cute picnic basket, and I love the ginger lilies. Miss Kitty with her "personal drinking fountain"...so cute. :)
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a great week,
Babs
I would have to cage in my wicker sofa because an elderly neighbor's cat loves to come and sleep on it and mess it up with mud! So annoying. I told her dau about it, the darn thing ruined a new cover I had made for it. She just lets it run lose all the time. Now I have to pile the wicker tables on top of it every night as my little gson is severely allergic. I tried the moth balls too.
ReplyDeleteOk, off my rant about irresponsible pet owners!
Your picnic basket planter looks wonderful and your portulaca headed man is adorable!
We still have to wait for the pollen invasion to end so we can set up the porch. You Southern gals are so ahead of us Yankees! :)
So many pretties to look at Deb, I think the ginger lilies are my favorite. Happy Tuesday,
ReplyDeleteKathysue
That would be loose! :)
ReplyDeleteYou have such a lovely patio. I think your picnic basket planter is one of my favorite things!!
ReplyDeleteDebbie, it all looks so pretty and so relaxing. Miss Kitty is so pretty. Too bad she has such a rude neighbor. laurie
ReplyDeleteYour patio looks so pretty! I love the terra cotta pot man :)
ReplyDeleteFresh, summery and clean looking...very nice.
ReplyDeleteSherron
That is funny that you have to put the catnip in a cage. Naughty neighbor!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Debbie. My day lilies are in bloom and so is the ginger plant. It didn't freeze this year, which allows it to bloom. It's gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteDebbie, what a cute potman...I should give this a try, I am sure I have enough pots in the garage. You should buy catmint not cat nip, they are not the same. My cats and indeed the neighbor cats never eat it. They roll and the big feral cat "Louis" just sits and smells it, it reyurns every year bigger each time.
ReplyDeleteDon't you love the Goodwill!! Best deals ever! The basket looks gorgeous all painted up and your pot man is the cutest things ever! What a fun fun idea...I think I need to make one for my grandkids...Mr. Potman in the garden...they would love that! Come link up to Centerpiece Wednesday and share you ideas with us.
ReplyDeleteKarin
Looking beautiful.....poor Miss Kitty....her catnap all caged up....she will enjoy it when she does get to it!!
ReplyDeleteDebbie,,
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet patio! I love the basket suitcase full of flowers and Miss Kitty's drinking fountain.
A few years ago,I planted cat nip for my two cats and the neighbor cat pulled them out roots and all, so I know what kind of varmit you're dealing with :)
Your basket planter is beautiful again this year and I loved the picture of Miss Kitty enjoying the fountain. We have a cat that looks just like your marauding neighbor, but our Trixie is inside only, and lives in Houston, so she's pleading not guilty for this particular offense!
ReplyDeleteI love your basket planter of begonias! Very pretty. I love your water feature and will have to make one. My cat Buddy loves to drink from running water. Stopping by from At The Picket Fence
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the reminder. I haven't been to the Goodwill in quite a while. I need to get back into the swing of things. I am loving your water hyacinths. I really enjoyed this inspirational post. I would love it if you would share this post at our WIW linky party? Hope to see you there!

Love the wicker basket, I would bring it out every year, too.
