My Shabby Picnic Basket Planter and More Old Favorites on the Patio

My patio is up and running this year and includes some old favorites…such as my shabby picnic basket planter which is making its third appearance! Love it…and so do the begonias. It was made from a $3.93 Goodwill find!  It had gotten a little too shabby and needed a little freshening up, so I repeated the original painting process. Directions for making it can be found here.

My little flower pot man is back…sporting a moss rose hair-do for summer. He stood up the first summer, but is sitting down again this year.

The little water feature is back also. I just love the sound of water…so soothing! Miss Kitty loves it, too, since she considers it her personal drinking fountain!

By mid-summer, the water hyacinths will be blooming…breathtaking! But…each bloom opens at night and only lasts one day!

And of course, the catnip is back! However, this year I have had to cage it thanks to this neighbor who bit each plant all the way down to the dirt and killed them all last year! Naughty fellow! My staff hardly got to enjoy it at all! I’ll take it out when the staff and I are enjoying the patio.

Here’s the lovely Miss Kitty acting goofy over the catnip year before last! Does it make her high? I don’t think so. She’s just goofy! She even acts like a fool over strawberries as you may recall!

And perhaps the best of all…the ginger lilies beside the patio are also up and growing! By fall they will be blooming again like this! I think it is one of the sweetest fragrances around…and so it seems do the hummingbird moths! I’ll be waiting for them to make their annual appearance!
