Fall is slowly arriving…both in Georgia and at my house! I think we may actually have time to enjoy it this year, instead of jumping from summer straight into winter as it does sometimes. And I love fall decor because I get to enjoy it from September through November!
You are greeted by this vignette when you enter…a pumpkin basket from Hobby Lobby filled with faux pumpkins, my Pottery Barn knock-off Indian corn candle holder and a silver tray with pumpkins and a homemade cinnamon stick candle.
Another cinnamon stick candle and a pumpkin greet you with a frenchy Bonjour from the little half wall in the foyer.
On the vintage drop leaf table behind the sofa you’ll find my latest thrifting find…this wonderful rooster vase from my favorite flea and antique market…a real bargain at only $10. I saw it online for $100 and on sale for $85. Woo hoo! It is made by the same company as a rooster vase that I have long loved in one of Charles Faudee’s books….but on a smaller scale and a better fit for my house. Those are my Country Living inspired découpage pumpkins beside it.
I’ve added a few white pumpkins to my vintage silver plate tea set for a simple hint of fall. I love the contrast!
A vine pumpkin topped by a fall arrangement and a tiger striped pumpkin bring a little fall to the demi-lune table.
My Pottery Barn inspired fall mantel is much the same as last year, but with one exception…I used vine pumpkins in the urns instead of the real orange ones. It’s a little more subtle, I think.
My little frenchy boy is standing guard over a vintage book bundle topped by another baby pumpkin.
In the hallway, a wreath decorates the shabby French mirror…a $2.00 Goodwill find I have been saving since summer.
And below it on the shabby table you’ll find this vignette…an urn painted with an Anduze-style finish topped with another vine pumpkin, a structural topiary frame and vintage books topped by a white pumpkin.
And on the back door, the always-present eucalyptus wreath…a Goodwill bargain…is sporting a faux orange pumpkin as a sign of the season. I am saving the front porch and a few other fall touches for another post.
But here’s my favorite sign that fall has arrived...my ginger lilies are blooming again! The blooms are not as abundant this year due to the drought, but the blooms that I do have smell as sweet as ever! And now I am doing my twilight walks around the house in search of their companion…the hummingbird moth. (See last year’s post where I actually photographed one!) Ahhhh…fall! My favorite season is arriving at last!

ReplyDeleteDebbie I always get such inspiration from you blog. I love you fall decor and I too am using some vine pumpkins this year. Something about them is very appealing. I'm still 'traveling' so I haven't added any real pumpkins to my decor. Hoping I will be able to do so upon my return in late October. hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteOh those ginger lilies are so special. Lilies with fragrance are the best. Like you our Fall season I hope will not be skipped over. We have enjoyed such beautiful days with glorious blue sky, mild temps and the grass is so green. The foliage is just now getting a little color. I just hope jack frost takes his time getting here this year. All of your fall touches throughout your home look magical, like the fall fairy just waved her wand. I really love the eucalyptus wreath and pumpkin. Your home looks so lovely.
ReplyDeleteHappy fall.......

Beautiful fall decor! I am not familiar with this type of lily, but I will be on the lookout for it. If it grows in Georgia, it should grow where I live in SC.
ReplyDeleteDebbie, would it be rude to invite myself over to see all you lovelies in person? If only I were close, i just might do that! Just beautiful...all of it! :)
ReplyDeleteDonna

I just love the wreath, Deb. It is perfect for where you have it. Not much decorating going on at my home while the kits are here. I still have Christmas to go crazy. :-)

Your fall home is BEAUTIFUL! I love it all. Thanks for sharing and visting. JoAnn
ReplyDeleteDebbie, I love every single detail of this. Every detail. Great job!
ReplyDeleteAnd ginger lilies... my yard man whacked mine into oblivillion (sp) a few years ago, and they are a sad, sad sight. I haven't seen a bloom in eons. Me thinks they need to be replaced. LOL! But that is a favorite plant of mine, too.
Hope all is well. Give Baby Kitty and the other babies a pat for me. I saw a kitty the other day that looked like him. At first I thought he had hitched a ride down on the Greyhound bus, but then I knew he wouldn't be riding on anything that had a dog involved. ;-)
XO,
Sheila
Debbie, Your Fall decor is gorgeous and I love the rooster vase. That is a beautiful mirror too. Thanks for joining my party.
ReplyDeleteHugs,

ReplyDeleteYou did a great job on the pumpkins what an inspiration. I do love fall but I have to admit Halloween is my thing.
The mirror is wonderful. Thanks for sharing. Kathy
wow friend, you put me to shame! I have only 1 pumpkin out in the house and it's a yearly porcelain a friend gave me many moons ago - it's a Hallmark lovely... Thank the Lord for friends! I did also put my home made wreath on the front door from a few years back...made it from a coat hanger and material that I picked up at GW..and bought some fall leaves ribbon to adorn it with.
ReplyDeleteYour Fall decorations and especially the DECOUPAGE pumpkins are Gorgeous!
;)
CC
Lovely! You have it all covered. Now how about a skeleton for your gkids! :)
ReplyDeleteDebbie, I adore the mantel, or mantle, and was surprised how much difference the vine pumpkin made. You did a beautiful work of art on this.
