I hope everyone is staying warm! It's freezing here in the South...but that makes it seem more like Christmas! This week I have my dining room ready to show you! I am using a theme of icicles and snowflakes with cream and silver...continuing the colors that I used on my mantel.
And just in case you think that we Southerners don't know what icicles look like, here's the fountain at the world famous (or around here anyway) Blue Willow Inn in Social Circle, Georgia! It's a restaurant known for its Southern-style food. I had lunch there yesterday and have to say they have the best fried green tomatoes on earth!
And at home, even the staff is snuggling to stay warm...like Baby Kitty and Kitty...who are not normally very friendly!
So where are the icicles at my house? Why...on the hutch, of course! I found these at Overstock.com. Aren't they realistic? They are made of recycled glass and come in a set of 20 of them...all different lengths...for only $26!
And they are not the only sparkly things on the hutch! I pulled out my favorite old silverplate pieces, gave them a good polishing and mixed them in with my wonderful bargain set of Wedgwood Queensware that you may remember...a Goodwill bargain at $68 for 52 pieces!
I tried really hard to stick to silver and cream, but little pops of red kept sneaking in...like this fabulous red amaryllis! Isn't it gorgeous? Unfortunately, it bloomed too soon for Christmas!
So where are the snowflakes? They say we may get a few today, but in the meantime, you can find big, glittery ones on each plate! This is the same Chris Madden Felice dinnerware that I found at GW for $10 and used at Thanksgiving. I have added silver chargers to go along with my sparkly theme.
That's my mom's Silver Flutes flatware from Towle. I love it...so simple and classic!
Are you noticing that I used many of the same pieces that were used at Thanksgiving...just dressed them up a little for Christmas! Here are my Irish crystal iced tea glasses mixed with my GW wine glasses! I am loving the contrast of the glitter and sparkle with the textures of the plates and the greenery!
And speaking of texture...I used my handmade ruffled burlap table runner again, too. It has proven to be so versatile! My Red Cliff ironstone soup tureen is the star of the centerpiece for now, but will be replaced by a shorter cream three wick candle at dinner.
And do you see my little snow birds peeking out from the greenery? You might remember them from my mantel..a fun little Dollar Tree project!
On the buffet, you will see more of my Red Cliff ironstone collection...a tea pot along with a creamer bought for a song on eBay and a sugar found at GW! I love the way they are reflected in my monogrammed tray...a gift from my students many moons ago! And what's that I'm serving?
Why, corks, of course! lol They are served up with a garnish of glittery balls and holly with my favorite Rodgers Brothers Vintage cold meat fork!
And have you looked up? I have also decorated the chandelier! I have added swags of cypress and tied silvery ornaments at varying lengths.
Here is where I used those $2 mercury glass acorns that I found at Walmart a while back...gorgeous!
And there you have it...my icicles and snowflakes themed dining room all dressed up for Christmas! Now if we can just stay inside and keep warm while the real ones are glistening outside!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful...everything is all sparkling and shimmering! I love the way you have decorated the chandelier.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week, Debbie.
Oh Debbie, this is so pretty. I love all of your silver and cream. Your dishes are all just wonderful, and the centerpiece is stunning. Your hutch looks gorgeous, and the chandy is so pretty. I just love it all. So sparkly and beautiful. Thanks so much for joining the party. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteEverything is just beautiful, Debbie! I love the mercury glass acorns. I knew immediately the Blue Willow Inn fountain when I spotted it. We lived in Conyers before moving north of ATL, so we've eaten there a few times, as well. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteDebbie,
ReplyDeleteEverything looks beautiful...love how your hutch looks all dressed up for the holidays!
Blessings,
Linda

Did you get to go on the Madison tour? if not, I have been posting some pictures on my blog this week. They allowed indoor photos this time- I must have taken 100 pictures!

Classic silver, cream and lots of sparkle has never looked so good!!! This is beautiful...love your runner too!!!
ReplyDeleteYour dining room is so pretty! Love those little snowbirds! We live in NC and were freezing all last week. This weekend its awrm in the 50's and raining. Temps are going to drop again this week. No snow though!
ReplyDeleteDebbie, tres magnifique! I think that was spelled correctly. I love all the silver and white. The cypress swags on the chandy is gorgeous. Yes, it is way too cold here isn't it. Stay in and stay warm.

XO,

It looks beautiful, Debbie! I hope you will link it up with my White Christmas Party this week too!
ReplyDeleteOh, son is home. Bad tip to France. Snow and they don't know how to handle it. His coat was stolen in a Paris restaurant, so no coat in a snow storm, and owners not very concerned, tough luck American attitude!
I love the icicles on the hutch. The silver touches are beautiful and the table scape-breathtaking!
ReplyDeleteEverything is just gorgeous! Love the mercury acorns! And the icicles in the fountain, too cool, really cool, can't believe it's frozen solid!
ReplyDeleteI have to say that chandelier took my breath away. So festive! And the Walmart acorns are very cute. Who knew Walmart would be having cute things this year!
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie, I sure enjoyed my visit to your dining room. Love the icicles, acorns, silver, everything. You really pulled it together beautifully. Pass me a serving of corks, please :) Linda
ReplyDeleteLove your dining room, Debbie. S sparkly. The icicles really looks so real and the mercury acorns look so pretty...Christine
ReplyDeleteEverything is just beautiful - all pull together with ease. Still marvel at some of your bargains!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are set!
Oh my whiskers!!!! "She" is drooling all over the keyboard. Need I tell you that "she" is LOVING your dining room?!?! Every single element!!! From the decorated chandelier to the iciles hanging on the hutch! WOW! Of course I'm thinking the cats are the best but I know you'd expect that, being a cat myself and all...
ReplyDeletePurrs!
Romeo and "her"
I've always wanted to try Fried Green Tomatoes, they just sound so good.
ReplyDeleteIt all looks beautiful Debbie and I can't believe that fountain...WoW!
Debbie, it all shimmers with beauty. I think you are ready! Wish I were as organized as you, my friend. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI followed your suggestion and went to Walmart and found some of those mercury glass acorns. I wanted to hang them in the dining room windows. Wasn't certain how to attach them so I tried using velcro with a sticky side to attach it to the widow frame. Thought it was working, but then one popped off. The acorn hit the floor and shattered. So, I changed plans. ;-)
Perhaps I'll hang them form the chandy.
Thanks for sharing your gorgeous room. It's full of inspiration for me. ~ sarah
Beautiful! My favorite part is the icicles hanging from your hutch.
ReplyDeleteDebbie, you are just so creative AND FUN...but then I say that every time! :) I do mean it. I love your style. Right away I noticed that darling little Christmas tree in your silver sugar bowl (or was it a creamer? I'll have to look back) I thought that was too cute for words. Love the icicles and just how you pulled everything together so nicely. Four Stars again!
ReplyDeleteDonna
Your dining room is gorgeous, Debbie! I love those glass icicles.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! Truly stunning! And the photo of the red amaryllis is glorious!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Sue
Just beautiful Debbie! Those icicles really do look real! I'm having dining room envy *winks* Oh and speaking some more about envy....You are a shopper supreme!! What amazing deals at the GW!! Makes me want to go there right now! Vanna
ReplyDeleteDebbie,
ReplyDeleteElegantly exquisite silver and white decor, darling! This is my style for sure. . .if only I could get "Mr. Ed" to agree!Perhaps I'll surprise him in the near future. Thank you for such an inspiring and romantic journey today!
Fondly,
Pat
P.S. Tell the staff, "Maurice has a new bed for Christmas". . .red and very warm.
I'm a transplanted southern girl living in the NW and so envious of those fried green tomatoes!!! Sounds yum :)
ReplyDeleteYour dining room looks great..I'm loving the creams. I've tried to incorporate creams in our tree this year which is a switch from the reds from years past. I need to start collecting xmas accessories in cream. Your dining room is great inspiration.
Oh Goodness! When I first saw the house with the fountain, I thought "I've been there!" The Blue Willow. *LOVE* I hope that you and the staff are keeping cozy and warm. Lord have mercy, it's going down into the 20's tonight in South Florida. I cannot deal with that!!! Love the cream dinnerware and silver pieces in your dining room. It's beautiful and I love the chandy deco! I'm sort of embarrassed that you would look at my "Santa in France" post...you are tooooooo kind! You are the French-y QUEEN! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe the wonderful things you've found at Goodwill! Everything is just so invting!
ReplyDeleteDebbie, Your room is gorgeous!! I love the little trees and icicles on your hutch and your table setting is beautiful. Thanks for linky to my party. I'll see you there.

Your dining room looks so pretty! I just love it! I picked those acorns up so many times at Walmart to get them but then put them back (to many other presents to buy). I really love how you used them.
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie,
ReplyDeleteThis is just so beautiful! It's like a winter wonderland on your table! I love those plates and your ironstone is some of the neatest I have ever laid eyes on!

Very pretty!! Love the frozen fountain.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! Yes, I remember those sweet birds. I have to say: I'd probably serve up the same thing. I don't happen to be much of a cook anymore!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Hi Debbie, thanks so much for sharing this beauty at my party and keep warm.
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie, this is so fantastic! I love everything you've used here! Doesn't the glass ice sparkle so much more than plastic? Beautiful job and stay warm!
ReplyDeletePS. Great playlist too.
What gorgeous decorations! I always loved hanging things from the chandy! Happy holidays! ♥
ReplyDeleteI am doing the silver and white/cream also. You are right though,..the red always seems to sneak in there. And it is then that you notice it adds just the pop of color you didn't know you needed!
ReplyDeleteYour dinning room is magazine worthy. Actually, the first picture in your post fooled me. I thought it WAS from a mazazine!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous way to display china, silver and Christmas.
So many delightful details! The icicles are truely a treasure. They add such a rich, icy elegence to your buffet.
And what a great idea using corks in a serving dish. That is one I'm going to copy!!!! As well as the little trees in your serving pieces. They are adorable! I have a silver service and was lamenting that I wished I could do something very special in it. Well, guess what I am going to do!
I am saving this entire post. It is one of the best of the season! Beautiful and festive, my friend!
AND who would not love to live in Social Circle Ga!!! What a great southern name! Such a fa-la-la visit!
xo Yvonne
Beautiful table setting! What a blessing to find matching treasures at GW!

Sherry
Your dining room is warm and inviting inspire of the icicles and snowflakes :)
ReplyDeleteCHRISTmas Blessings!
Gail
Your table is just gorgeous. I love how you've combined some very "fine" pieces with some great GW finds. It all works so well together. You have a wonderful eye for pulling it all together. Love your icicles, too. Wish I could send you a few warmer degrees. We have been in the 80's the last couple of days--have to really use the imagination for feeling like Christmas. But I'm not complaining when I know so many parts of the country are having such cold, freezing weather.
ReplyDeleteCAS
Debbie, I'm back for another peek at this gorgeous room and table. Makes my heart sing each time I see it.
ReplyDelete~ Sarah
Beautiful and elegant!
