Now All We Need Is...My Grandson!

IMG_0672 Finally! I can show you my little grandson’s nursery! It has been months of putting on the finishing touches while we wait, but now we are ready! Now all we need is my grandson to complete the picture…and he will be here any day now!

bedding My daughter wanted the nursery to have a very subtle theme, so she took inspiration from the bedding to use the colors of pale blue and green with chocolate brown and…

page1 …a circle motif! It’s reflected in the lamps, on the walls, in the curtains and even in the little circle rug by the crib! The walls were a labor of love…

IMG_0687 First, my daughter painted the walls a pale blue topped by a band of a darker shade. Next, she painted green circles using a stencil that she made herself. Then finally, she added a green stripe to finish it off. The curtains were my contribution to the nursery. We took ready-made tab top drapes, added a band of chocolate on three sides and chocolate tabs, then added buttons covered in green to match the bedding.

IMG_0683 My nine-year-old grandson made a special baby boy doggie at Build-a-Bear for his baby brother and arranged this corner of the crib in anticipation of his arrival! He can’t wait to be a big brother!

IMG_0663 And my sweet friend Gloria at Happy to Be made this wonderful tassel for the nursery! Isn’t it the perfect match…even down to the circles! I love the baby boy riding on the stork’s back…so cute!

IMG_0677 Instead of a changing table, we will use the matching dresser…really a great idea! The crib breaks down into a queen sized bed, too, so he has furniture he can use for a long time. So much better than having to buy all new like we had to do back in the olden days! The picture frames are waiting to be filled once my grandson arrives. Sorry about the dog tail, but…

IMG_0668 …they have six dogs, five of whom were rescues, so it’s hard to get a picture without at least part of a dog in it! lol They can’t wait to welcome him into the pack!

IMG_0670 Now we are just waiting for the perfect final touch…my little grandson! He should be making his appearance any day now and I am so excited! I have a feeling I will be spending some time sitting in this comfy chair! It has been a long time between grandsons, so I am ready to hold a baby! I will keep you posted! In the meantime, thanks for stopping by!

  1. What a beautiful nursery, Debbie. I love the colors and the dots. You did great on those panels. Yes, I am sure you will be sitting in that chair a lot and staring into his precious little face. Hope he comes soon. Looks like another round of snow is possible for late tonight and into tomorrow....Kim

Your draperies are the perfect touch, and that build a bear is such an an adorable gift from big brother! Now you just need the perfect accessory - baby boy! Hugs, Kat (loved the picture of the dogs by the way - what a crew!)

  5. Debbie, your grandson's room is adorable, even has my favorite color combo, green/blue!...it is so nice that the furniture will still be perfect as he grows. Your daughter did a nice job doing the polka dotted walls...it came out beautifully. I am smiling, visioning your older grandson lovingly making his new baby brother the little boy doggie, that is so special! Love the little tassel Gloria made...perfect, she sure is talented!
Now, if the little guy would just make his appearance!
    Have a great week.

  18. Congratulations on the upcoming arrival of your newest grandson, Debbie. His nursery is just beautiful. Such a great, modern color scheme for a little boy. That Gloria has been a busy little bee making tassels lately! She made me one a couple weeks ago which just blew me away. She seems to just know the perfect touches to personalize them.

One question: I love the style of the chair and ottoman in the nursery. Are you able to provide a source?

  52. Yes, Dear Prof, it is indeed I! And if I had ever mastered all those verb tenses in French, I would have said this in French.

I think I am almost as excited as you are about your impending new arrival! The nursery is a dream, so well thought out and executed. You will let us know when it happens, I am sure.

    My new blog is http://scribbler-unfocused.typepad.com.

When I try to leave comments, the form often (but not always) reverts to the old Google login, which directs the reader to a non-existent blog site, and it will not accept this Typepad address. I don't know how to fix this. I guess it will take a while for people to find me.

I am so happy for you and your family! Best wishes to your daughter for a happy delivery.
