Breakfast at the Château de Lunéville...Tablescape Thursday and Foodie Friday

Because I played with both my dishes and my food...lol... I am doing a twofer this week and participating in two events! Tablescape Thursday is brought to you by our hostess with the mostest...Susan at Between Naps on the Porch! Be sure to visit her blog to see another one of her gorgeous tablescapes and to find the list of this week's participants!

Foodie Friday is hosted by our dear friend Gollum at Designs by Gollum. Be sure to visit to see what she has cooked up this week and to see a list of the participants!

I am asking you to really stretch your imagination this week! Will you do that?? Pretend that we are at the Château de Lunéville in Lunéville, France, instead of chez moi...my humble abode...OK?? Because this week, I am so excited to be featuring............

...my Lunéville china!!!!! Yes, dear friends, I've finally gone and done it! I bought myself some Lunéville china! And I am blaming it all on my friend Bo at Blinks 'N Winks from Brown-Eyes! She did a post showing the china and brought back some beautiful memories of my visit to the chateau at Lunéville. And I am also giving credit to my dear friend Pat from MicasaStyle, who planted the seed for my tablescape with her wonderful ideas!!

My co-hostess tonight is Miss Isabella who is filling in for Baby Kitty. He is in Scotland for a golfing vacation as a part of his benefits package. It has always been his dream to play the course at St. Andrews!

Is your imagination in gear? We are having a petit déjeuner français...a French-style breakfast...at the Château de Lunéville! In France, breakfast basically consists of bread, butter and jam and I have thrown in some fruit for good measure! However, the real star of the tablescape is my Lunéville china!

I found it at a bargain price at a flea market in Kennesaw, Georgia! I was strolling by a booth with my friend Linda at Nina's Nest when I saw these plates....can it be??? Yes!!! It is!! My palms got sweaty and I squealed with joy when I saw this!!! It's the Strasbourg pattern...often called Old Strasbourg. Obviously, this is not antique since it is dishwasher safe...lol...but it is a modern reproduction of an antique pattern. It is not actually china, but faïence...tin glazed pottery.

At Pat's suggestion, I am using pink tulips as the centerpiece. I placed them in a pink swirled glass vase.

Old Strasbourg comes in two designs...rose and tulip. I will show you the rose first. This is the soup bowl...I love the little flowers decorating the rim!

Here is the dinner plate...

...the cup and saucer...

...and the bread and butter plate.

And here is my favorite...the tulip design! Do you see how beautiful it looks with the pink tulips? Is your heart racing?? Mine is!!

Here is the soup bowl...

...and the dinner plate...

I love the morning glory on the rim!

Here are the cup and saucer...

...and the bread and butter plate. Aren't they gorgeous???

I used my crystal goblets with my battenburg lace placemats and napkins because I like the way the goblets reflect the design in the lace.

I also used my mom's Silver Flutes flatware by Towle. I like its simplicity since I didn't want to detract from the china.

Our breakfast consists of croissants with buttter and strawberry jam along with some fruit. I scooped the butter with a melon baller and put it in little glass votive holders.

I am serving the strawberries and blueberries in a pink depression glass bowl that also belonged to my mom. I am afraid my new obsession is becoming pink depression glass! It's not always easy to find. This one has such a delicate pattern.

The croissants are in another of her pink depression glass bowls. This one has a larger raised rose pattern that matches the plates!!

Here are my new loves...my pink Cubiste creamer and sugar bowl! I love the way all the facets catch the light! The marmalade jar has an interesting pattern, too.

I had to add this ironstone pitcher that I found on the clearance aisle at Marshalls. It was calling to me as I walked by and I grabbed it before anyone else saw it! I love its very frenchy handle! It reminds me of a big old-fashioned French coffee pot!

And there you have it...my breakfast at the Château de Lunéville! I hope you enjoyed it! Please continue your tour de tablescapes by visiting Susan and your gastronomical tour of blogland by visiting Gollum! Enjoy!!!

  91. Debbie, here I am months later visiting this beautiful post. The Lunéville faience is wonderful, and even more so that you found it so unexpectedly. Love the tulips! Thanks for sending me this link, and thank you for sharing the information about the plates that are at the French Legation Museum. I think you are absolutely right on with your identification. I thought they were probably from the eastern region of France. You have a beautiful table setting here. I know it must be a real treat to enjoy a meal with these French treasures. ~ Sarah
