6 Ways to Use Seashells in Summer Décor

The official start is still about a week or so away, but here in the South it is already full-on summer! My favorite little people are on the way back from the beach as I write and I am betting that they are bringing  a collection of treasured finds from their beach-combing expeditions. It's time to bring out the seashells! Sooo...I am sharing six of my favorite ways to add  that beachy touch that just says summer!

1. Add seashells to your walls
Here's a fun way to give your home a summery look with my free VINTAGE SEASHELL PRINTS. Just print, frame and hang them and you are good to go!

2. Give your throw pillows a touch of the sea
This super-easy NO-SEW STARFISH PILLOW is a fun and inexpensive way to bring home the beach. Do starfish officially count as shells? Maybe not, but it works for me! ;-)

3. Add seashells to a wreath
My PIER 1 INSPIRED SEASHELL WREATH definitely says beach and didn't require an eight-hour drive to find all that you need. I actually purchased the shells at Hobby Lobby! Easy peasy!

4. Add them to a stand for a little statement art piece
My Restoration Hardware inspired SEASHELL AND STARFISH STANDS were waaay less expensive than theirs! Just paint a couple of thrift store candlesticks, add your shells and display!

5. Use shells to create a summery centerpiece
I added a group of pretty shells along with my DIY JAPANESE FISHING FLOATS to create a little bit of summer in my dough bowl.

6. Use shells as a vase filler
My SUMMER MASON JAR CANDLES are so fun and easy to create! I bring them out on my patio for a beachy feel...

...along with my SUMMERY SEASIDE LANTERNS. Just add shells as a filler, with or without candles, and pretend you can hear the waves! ;-)

And there you have it! I won't have my beach trip until fall when it's a little cooler and less crowded so these little touches of seashells will keep me in a summery mood until I get to have the real thing! I hope they will bring a little of the beach to you, too!

  1. Thanks for all the wonderful beachy ideas to decorate. Going to finally make that starfish pillow and printed out directions to make music sheet sail boats. Have my jars ready to put in shells and candles. Will use shell printables to make some napkins.Got my beach decorations out last week while we had 98, 101,97 temps, low humidity thank heavens.Usually is pretty dry here, and windy out where we live in rural area.
    Always enjoy your posts.Happy week
