As many of you know, there has been a lot going on at my house recently! My daughter and my grandchildren have come to live with me so that my daughter can finish her degree in elementary education and become a teacher like her mom! Needless to say, I am very proud and happy to help make that dream come true. But it has called for some adjustments from us all, including my feline "staff." However, it didn't take long for the kitties and the little grands, ages 5 and 6, to become great friends, especially with my laid-back and lovable co-host Baby Kitty!
How about you? Have you had experiences bonding with your kitty? Just leave a comment to be entered in the sweepstakes to win a $100 Visa gift card!

I love the way the Grands are playing with your staff. My new little girl has brightened up my home a lot. Tiger loves playing with her and he helped me choose her at the animal shelter. I love Meow Mix and it's the food I brought home for her and she eats it all up. Annie is sleeping with me and it's nice to have a cuddly kitty in my home once again. Hugs.

ReplyDeleteI believe that the cats that grew up with my children were smarter from the interactions. I love the 2 boys I have now, but the 2 cats that grew up with all that extra play time, are much more clever. Also, your grandchildren are learning to emphasize with other creatures, which is fanatastic. I feel sorry for children who do not have the opportunity to share their lives with animals.
ReplyDeleteI brush my three cats everyday, it is what we do.They love it and so do I.
ReplyDeleteI've had several bonding experiences with my cat. I found my cat when he was just a kitten during a snow storm. To keep him warm I put him inside my coat against my chest to get warm. I remember him purring like crazy and knew we would get along great!

ReplyDeleteI don't think I've had specific bonding moments with my kitties. I care for their every need so that has bonded us! :)

Debbie, I have my five-year-old twin grandsons and their mom living with me right now, too. And the boys both love my cat, Rhoda. She is quite along in years, but very patient with the sometimes over-enthusiastic show of love they give her! I haven't tried having them feed her yet, but they do help feed my Labradoodle whom they also love. I think it is very good for children to be around pets and to learn how to treat them gently and to listen to what the animal may be telling them by it's voice or body language. Having two active little boys around certainly makes life interesting, doesn't it?!
ReplyDeleteMy family who live upstairs have two cats...The mama kitty came to their door several years ago as an abandoned cat....they took her in fed her and found out that she was pregnant...they found homes for all but her and one of her babies..."mama" comes to my door to visit each day and now takes her nap on the end of my bed...in fact lately, it seems that she spends more time with me than with them....LOL...must be the love that I give her and of course the treats! Never had a cat growing up and I am finding a real pleasure. Thanks for the giveaway!!!
ReplyDeleteI had a kitty when I was a kid, he was my sidekick as my parents put it.

ReplyDeleteMy kitties love to be petted and have playtime and get treats! They also love sleeping next to me. I'd say that's bonding!
ReplyDeleteMy current cat Evil loves dogs. He wants to be best friends with my basset hound Audrey...she's doesn't always understand why he leans on her as they walk. Funny to watch.them interact...Evil doesn't have a man bone in his body. He's part shames and loves to snuggle.
ReplyDeleteFive years ago I was recovering from a broken leg and surgery which led to pulmonary emboli in both lungs. It was an uphill struggle that sent me into a bit of a funk. My husband called from work one day because a litter of kittens had been found near some of the machinery. The mother was nowhere to be found and the workers had been feeding them Subway sandwiches. He told me to bring one of our pet carriers. I brought them home intending to take them to the shelter, but one stole my heart and I had to keep him. We named him Marley after the brand name of the machines the kittens lived beneath. At the time, I felt useless and unneeded. And although I might have saved Marley's life, I have always said that he saved mine. I have had rescue kitties for many years but he is the most special. I carried him around when he was a baby and now he jumps up to the highest point where he is allowed in order to get on my shoulder. Thank you for sharing your kitty-love and thank you for a chance at your very generous giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI see that others are leaving their email, so I will, too. Keeping fingers crossed.
