Those of you who read my blog regularly know that big changes have been going on in my home over the last year. Until recently, my household consisted of my feline “staff members” and me. Let’s just say a busy day involved a nap in a sun puddle followed by tuna fish and a movie. (And that’s just me!) But now I am very proud to say that my daughter has decided to follow in my footsteps and go back to school to become a teacher!
To make this dream happen, she and my three grandsons ages 5, 6 and 16 have come to live with me. Needless to say, I am thrilled! But that also means that there is a lot more activity and lots more people in my home. And it’s not just family members. It’s all that comes with having two little guys, a teenager and their mom added to the mix. That means play dates and visits from friends of all ages!
I love my kitties and consider them part of my family, too. The oldest, Miss Kitty, is 18 and that's older than any of my grandchildren so you can guess how important they are to me. But having multiple kitties can be a problem. I have always tried to be aware of how the litter box smell might offend visitors and keep it as clean as possible. And now, with all the extra coming and going in my home, it is more important than ever that no one notices any signs that it is there. I would hate to think that anyone could come in the door and immediately guess the presence of my little fur babies! So I was really excited when I found ARM & HAMMER™ Clump & Seal™ MicroGuard™ Cat Litter!
Isabella loves the fresh scent and I love how it works in two ways! Because it contains heavy-duty odor eliminators and ARM & HAMMER™ Baking Soda, it destroys immediate odors on contact. And not only that! MicroGuard™ technology prevents the growth of future bacterial odors for 7-day odor control, guaranteed. It actually prevents bacterial odor before it begins! We are so happy to have the cats around to play with us and now we don't even notice the scent of the litter boxes because MicroGuard™ really works. Needless to say, I am now their biggest fan!
How about you? Tell me a little about the feline members of your family for a chance to win a $100 VISA gift card! Just leave a comment below!

It is exciting to have family back living with you!! Oh that cat litter box smell, ugh! I try so hard to keep it clean but sometimes the cat is more 'active' then I realize. I'm always looking for a good litter product. I'll give this a try.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and how exciting Debbie!!! That is a big change!
ReplyDeleteBig change but exciting! Love my kitty and always trying to keep her litter box fresh.
ReplyDeleteSadly, we don't have any feline members in our house right now. Our favorite was a Siamese named "Corners" because he was so cross-eyed that he always ran into the wall!
ReplyDeleteLove your blogspot! Happy Fall Debbie......
Thank you for the review! Cat litter can be tough sometimes with the odor. I have tried a couple of brands but have not been happy so far with them. We rescued our sweet Ember a couple of months ago. She was in such bad shape and they were going to put her down in a couple of days at the animal shelter. My daughter immediately fell in love with her. Needless to say, that day we came home with a new baby. She is now a fat and happy kitty! We love her and she is a rotten mess!
ReplyDeleteOh boy! You will have your hands full! Good Luck !

My kitty was hanging out my granddaughters daycare and one of the parents took her to her work at the vet office to get her spayed. We then took her in and she has been happy at our house ever since. She misses the kids but has it made under the table on the chair.

ReplyDeleteThat is a big change, Deb. I expect it won't take long to get in the swing of things for the humans. It might be different for the felines. Glad you found a good dependable product. Deb
ReplyDeletehello and thank you for yet another great giveaway!!! so glad for your daughter to go back to school..enjoy them!!! as for my cats....well my two oldest are 15...and this year they've decided to summer... outside. they stay close to home, and there are safe places for them to sleep etc. but they want nothing to do with coming in. but I'm sure as soon as the weather here in NJ changes, they'll be begging at the door to let them in. anyway, thanks again. ReplyDeleteHi Debbie! I do not have a kitty, however I am lucky in that I get to baby sit "Mama Kitty" a lot. She is a sweet Norwegian Forest cat and is loveable on top of being sweet. I look forward to her visits and perhaps some day, she will come to live with me. I thank you for your suggestion of the Arm and Hammer litter box filler. I already have it on my shopping list! I am going to Target soon, as well....planning on making that Halloween banner....great idea!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I bought my home 14 years ago, a lot of changes followed, so God sent me a best friend Bill E Buttons. Sweetest white and black cat ever and best guard cat. We spent 13 years together until he passed away last October, breaking my heart. Spike Jones, a cutie patootie wandered in our neighborhood and found love. Then love found her. Boy did it ever. She has a large brood. Should I win, we need to visit the vet.

Mario, our black and white kitty, lives a life of ease...He alternates between catnapping and watching the birds through the window.
ReplyDeleteMy first real pets were two kitty sisters named Max (Maxine) and Henri (Henriette). They were true friends and we spent many years together. That was a long time ago but I still think about them almost every day!

ReplyDeleteCongrats! Arm & Hammer works wonders for so many different household issues. When we had my kitty I would sprinkle it in her litter box.
ReplyDeleteWe have a 12 year old neutered male orange tabby named Flea (named by my kids!). I am allergic to cats but for some reason not to him. When he is gone I probably won't have another one, so it makes me cherish him all the more. I never knew I could love a cat like I do him. He has some very un-catlike characteristics; in fact, we call him "the cat who thinks he's a dog." He co-exists with four dogs but they know not to mess with him! He was here first, and he broke them in, though he was much tougher on the earlier arrivals than the more recent ones. We adore him!
ReplyDeleteDebbie, I've had many cats over the years, but most recently a "lost" one who made his way to our house after my daughter, very little at the time, prayed to God every night during her prayers for a "cat that Daddy won't be allergic to"...we were worried because there was no such cat, we thought. But along came Hopscotch who lived a happy life with us for many years, moving from state to state, always attached to my daughter. He passed away as a quite old kitty, well loved. The power of children's prayers is amazing! Congratulations on the addition of your daughter and 3 grands to your house. Such joy to have them near, and best wishes to your daughter on her new career!! Linda

Hi Debbie - we just lost our oldest of two sisters to my (human) son on Sunday - it has been a long, long week. Willow was dark tortie and The Sweetest Cat that ever lived. She was 14+ and we all miss her terribly - Daisey is grey tortie and one year younger and she is struggling - one of us has to sit with her while she eats or she loses interest bc she was always next to Willow as they shared mealtime their whole lives. The human brother, Erik, is also having a very hard time of it all as well - his first pet loss and he was a trooper at the vet's. Thanks for the tip about the cat litter - and I enjoy your blog very much!
ReplyDeleteWe have eight rescued feral cats, down from nine after losing one in July. It is a huge challenge to keep up with them, but well worth the effort. You don't want to get in the way on Wet Food Wednesday, that's for sure!
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie, I have just one kitty - his name is Mitt. I take care of the litter box very often, so I never notice a smell, but I have recently moved into a new home with dark hardwood floors and it's the litter that bothers me. My floor can be all clean when I go to bed, but then litter scattered about when I get up in the mornings. Have you found any that stays where it should? I've invested in a covered box with stairs (I keep them vacuumed clean) sitting on a rug that I also vacuum. It still gets out... I never noticed this at my other house where I had a light colored tile. It must have been there tho... Any ideas?
ReplyDeleteI don't have a cat, but I always loved the names of my dear friend's cats: Margaret and Beatrice. :)

ReplyDeleteWow, took me awhile to get to comment box, was also enjoying reading comments. We have orange kitty who adopted us when we lived in KY. He showed up in our yard one day and didn't seem inclined to leave. Maybe some other kitties passed the word about me preferring orange kitties. At first thought was girl so called him Molly, then found out I was wrong so he became Monty, wanted name which sounded similar to Molly so he wouldn't be confused. Think he might have been about 7-9 months old. He fit right in to our household, no naughty habits and our dog seemed to like him well enuf. bed in morning cuddling. Can't remember for sure how long we'd had him before we left KY but think he's about 14 or 15 now. He gets along lovely with our present dog who runs thru house with him when Monty gets cabin fever. The two of them are a hoot together.
ReplyDeleteBy now you must have adjusted to having daughter and grand kids being with you, how nice for all of you to have each other.
Have wonderful rest of week
I am such a cat lover. I can't pass a cat outdoors without trying to pet them. Some like me, some dont. But that's what so special about them. All have their own personality. I don't currently have a kitty, sadly, but my daughter does. I get to enjoy my grandkitty now. Thanks for a fun giveaway!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter's two cats have been living with me for about five years. They are both getting "up in years" and are definitely persnickity. The oldest, Rhoda, has to be fed about four times a day and she is very vocal about when it's time to eat! She has tiger markings and is quite beautiful. She's also the "queen" of the four-leggeds and even bosses my labradoodle around. The younger cat, Tula, is a black, long-haired beauty, but very skittish. She loves to be petted, but startles easily and quickly disappears. The two cats do not get along at all, so that makes it interesting as they have to be fed in separate rooms or Tula won't let Rhoda eat. And Rhoda won't stand up to her, despite being the queen in all other situations. It can be quite entertaining just observing their behavior.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, thanks for the info about the litter.
We have one cat. We found her wondering outside and couldn't find her owner so we kept her.

We have 12 cats, all are rescued and ferals from the neighborhood. We got them all fixed, shots, meds and they are all our babies now.
ReplyDeleteI have two fur babies, sisters, Oats & Piggy. Up until last Friday, I also had their brother, Meeko, but he passed away unexpectedly of a stroke. So heartbroken over that but the girls, as we like to call them, are helping me to heal. Sorry to be a downer. :-/

We have six cats, all feral rescues: twin tabbies, Little Orphan Annie, a beautiful longhair Russian Blue-looking momma and her shorthaired son, and my (not so) Sweet Baby Bear - the first kitten I've ever bottle raised who is growing up to be a holy rolling terror!

ReplyDeletePip is a 1 year old yellow tabby that is haughty and unsocial. Little Bitty is gray and white and so loving. He is my shadow.
ReplyDeleteWe have 6 rescued kitties, including my special boy Kerry who is a one-eyed pirate kitty. He started going blind after we trapped and rescued him and later had to have his eye removed, but he doesn't let it stop him. He's the champion red dot catcher of the house!
ReplyDeleteWe don't have a cat right now because my grandson is allergic and is living with us.
ReplyDeleteWe were adopted bu six cats. They are so much fun. Each has its own personality.
