Pottery Barn Inspired Bunny Garland

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Pottery Barn Inspired Bunny Garland
The weather has been so wonderful here in Georgia...a very generous taste of spring! So my very talented blogger friends at Celebrations of Home and I are excited to bring you our monthly share with Spring Has Sprung as our theme! And with Easter only two weeks away, it is no surprise that I have bunnies on my mind! Sooo...I decided that it was time to try my hand at copying ...errr... recreating a cute little something that I had seen at Pottery Barn...my spring bunny garland!

It's so easy and fun and could even be used at a baby shower or child's birthday party as well! And it's my kind of project...inexpensive!

Here's what you will need:
  • Four sheets of scrapbooking paper in coordinating patterns
  • White card stock
  • Rubber cement (I like to use it because it doesn't wrinkle.)
  • Bunny template (found here) printed to allow the bunny to be about 6 inches tall
  • Ribbon (I used a 5/8 inch organdy)
  • Small pom poms
  • Elmer's glue
  • Scissors
  • Glue Dots (I found them at Michael's)

And here's what you will do:
  1. Cut rectangles large enough to accommodate the bunny template out of scrapbooking paper and card stock. (I cut 3 rectangles from each of 4 different scrapbooking pages for a total for 12 rectangles plus the additional 12 rectangles from card stock.)
  2. Using rubber cement, glue a card stock rectangle to the back of each rectangle of scrapbooking paper. This will give the scrapbooking paper a little more substance. Smooth with a ruler. Don't worry if it smears. You can roll off the excess with your finger.
  3. Using the bunny template as your guide, cut out the 12 bunnies from the double thickness. (I find that this method works better and faster that cutting out the bunnies and card stock separately and then gluing them.)
  4. Add a small amount of Elmer's glue at the base of each bunny and attach the pom pom. This is the bunny's tail.
  5. Cut the ribbon 92 inches long.
  6. Add one Glue Dot on the back of the bunny at the top of each ear and press it to the ribbon, spacing the bunnies about one inch apart. (I found that it was better to start at the center and work out.) Of course, you could use other methods to attach the ears to the ribbon, but once you have tried Glue Dots, you will agree that they are wonderful for projects like this! (And they are not paying me to say that!)

Now just hang your bunny garland and enjoy! Mine has been added to the Easter mantel to give it a fun whimsical look. This is the first Easter for the grands and their mom at my house so I would really like it to be special for them.

  6. Love all the pretty colors, Debbie. And now I think I need to get me some rubber cement. Didn't realize it didn't wrinkle paper. Plus, it's just cool to work with.
