Life can get crazy busy at my house! Since we are a family of three generations under one roof, we often find ourselves pulled in several directions at once. You see, my daughter has recently become a full time student…a decision that I am very proud of. She is on her way to becoming a teacher, following in my footsteps and becoming the fourth generation of teachers in my family. That means that everyone is taking on some new roles to make this dream work. I am not only the grandmother, but also the CEO in the babysitting and carpooling departments for my three grandsons. And that gives extra importance to our time as a family as well. We want to be certain that we allow lots of quality family time… like the annual trip to the pumpkin farm. After all, we are not just living our lives, we are making memories and that means that every moment together counts!
Since I am frequently in charge at meal time too, it’s important to me that we celebrate every day, not just the holidays. I like to include some of our favorite desserts and Marie Callender’s Dutch Apple Pie is at the top of our list. It’s a real time-saver but doesn’t compromise when it comes to homemade taste. I love the made-from-scratch crust and the fact that only fresh Fuji apples are used… my favorite! Another feature that I really like is that the brown sugar streusel topping comes in a separate bag....a signature special touch. That way, I can give the job of sprinkling it on top of the pie to the little grands. It makes them feel important to be included in the process. They love to admire their handiwork when the pie emerges from the oven, baked to perfection! And then, of course, they are so proud when everyone gets to enjoy the fruits of their labor, so to speak! It makes me happy to be able to create special little moments for them…. little snapshots of happy times together as a family. And I have to say that I also love that I can feel good about Marie Callender’s and know that I am serving them a wholesome dessert made from the highest quality ingredients while allowing us to make sweet memories at the same time. You can find out more about Marie Callender's HERE and follow them on Facebook and Pinterest!

ReplyDeleteI frequently serve frozen pies for holiday dinners. After everything else is made it's a great way to save time and Marie Callender's pies are great.

I have never had a Marie Callender pie and now after reading your blog and seeing the yummy looking photos of them, I am going to pick one (or maybe 2!) on my trip to the grocery store this week. Cannot wait to try this apple! What fun for you and for the grands to be living together. Time goes by so quickly and before you know it, they will be all grown up. I have the blessing of having two of my grands living here, as well....I enjoy it so very much...keeps me young! Thanks for the giveaway and have a wonderful time with those sweet young ones..Diane.
