Ironstone and Grain Sack...A Vintage Farmhouse Centerpiece

I like to imagine that I live in an old French farmhouse in Provence…but until I win the lottery, I will have to be satisfied with adding a few farmhouse touches to my own little home. And my breakfast room table is a favorite spot for me to do just that! This time I am combining all of my favorites…ironstone, silverplate, toile and grain sacks… into one centerpiece for a real vintage farmhouse feel.



I started with my favorite vintage Red Cliff ironstone tea pot…I love the grapey pattern…and removed the lid to serve as a vase. I filled it with faux hydrangeas in the perfect vintage-y pinky red color.

Next, I polished up my favorite grapey…can you tell I like grapes?…vintage silverplate flatware, a gift from Jackie, one of my sweet readers, and popped it into the matching creamer. I tied on a bit of jute twine for some added texture and farmhouse feel. 

Here’s the sugar from the same Red Cliff ironstone tea set. I love the leaves and the grapevines as handles!

Of course, you can’t have farmhouse style without a few chickens, so I added this salt and pepper set, a well-loved gift from my friend Babs at Upstairs Downstairs.

And here’s what’s really adding to the farmhouse feel…these wonderful vintage-look tea towels! They are from the Farmhouse Kitchen collection at Heritage Lace, my new partner. I love the tea-stained color and texture, plus the antique red stripe gives a real grain sack feel. And…they could also be used as over-sized napkins!

And even more vintage grain sack feel is added by the matching Farmhouse Kitchen Runner…love it!

And here’s another look. I topped off the tea towels with a little handmade toile heart from my Farmhouse Valentine Centerpiece…another favorite. I get a little hint of Provence and smile every time I pass by!

Baby Kitty says he loves the farmhouse look…especially the toile heart since he helped make it…but has a question. If this is a farm, where are the mice? Outside, where they should be, I hope! lol
