Yep…you guessed it…Pottery Barn! As soon as I saw their Bougainvillea branch lumbar pillow, I knew that I would have to make one of my own! I love the pretty spring colors! But, I chose not to make a lumbar pillow since that size really doesn’t fit well in my home.
Here’s what you will need:
- A pre-made pillow cover (Mine came from Hobby Lobby)
- 2 squares of fuchsia felt
- 1 square each of two different shades of green felt
- Brown craft paint
- Small paint brush
- Aluminum foil
- Hot glue gun
- Pencil
- Print-out of the template that follows
And here’s what you will do:
- Press the pillow cover and slide a piece of aluminum foil inside to protect the back of the cover. Draw several branches with the pencil and then paint them with the craft paint.
- Cut the flower forms using the pattern that follows. Add a small amount of hot glue in the center.
- Allow it to cool for a few seconds, then pinch the petals together and hold until the glue sets.
- Cut both small and large leaves from the green felt…several of each size and in each color.
- Arrange the flowers and leaves on the branches, removing them one at a time once they are arranged and adding a small amount of hot glue to the back to hold them in place.
Here’s the template for the flowers and leaves. I printed it at 3 x 5 inch size using Photoscape, a free download.
Finally, remove the aluminum foil and pop in a pillow form. Mine is down and came from Goodwill for under $3.00! I think I am going to love the pop of spring color it adds to my home!
And if you are looking for more fun ways to add some spring color to your home here’s my no-sew fabric wreath…so easy to make! You just cut the fabric pieces and tie!
Or if you are a fan of burlap, my no-sew burlap rose wreath is another easy way to add some spring to your home!
