My Farmhouse Fall Mantel

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Farmhouse Fall MantelWe finally had a bit of cool weather this week and it inspired me to get a move on and decorate my mantel for fall! I decided to continue the farmhouse theme that I started last Christmas and take it through all of the seasons, creating a farmhouse fall mantel!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Farmhouse Fall MantelI have fallen in love with the patina of galvanized metal and so I made it the heart of this mantel, topped off with shades of autumn-y orange in the pumpkins and the candles. Now just add a little bittersweet and it’s perfect!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Farmhouse Fall MantelThe grapevine wreath adds lots of texture as does the faux bittersweet garland, a fabulous bargain find from Pier 1 at 90% off of $35…so $3.50! Woo hoo! I actually bought three of them so I didn’t mind cutting one of them up to create the wreath and to add to the mantel.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Farmhouse Fall Mantel I love this frenchy galvanized  container…a sweet gift from a friend…and the orange pumpkins add the perfect contrast!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Farmhouse Fall Mantel It sits at the center of the mantel and helps to add that farmhouse feel that I am looking for.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Farmhouse Fall MantelOn either side is a long-stemmed pumpkin, found at a north Georgia pumpkin farm during last week’s trip there with the grands. For me, that longer stem just adds a little extra texture and interest to what would be an ordinary pumpkin.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Farmhouse Fall MantelAnd on either end are my favorite decorating finds…my galvanized farmhouse lanterns! I found them at Joss & Main last year. They originally came with dark glass but I removed it to show their wonderful structural lines. Each one houses an orange pillar candle tied with jute twine.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Farmhouse Fall Mantel I am loving all of the contrast, texture and natural elements…

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Farmhouse Fall Mantel …but I especially love the farmhouse feel of the galvanized touches! And those traditional orange pumpkins just say fall to me!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Farmhouse Fall Mantel Here’s a final look at the whole mantel, with more vintage metal in the olive bucket that I use to store firewood.

KittyMiss Kitty says she  thinks I should share several fall mantels from the past as well. (Actually, she’s saying When’s lunch? but she agreed to pose since she can’t work the can opener!)

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Fall Mantel with Naturals and TextureHere’s my fall mantel from a couple of years ago, using lots of natural elements and textures. Those lion head urns are still favorites of mine!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Blue, White and Bittersweet Fall MantelAnd this one from last year just says me :-) …blue and white with bittersweet! I love the unusual contrast of blue with orange for fall!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Farmhouse Fall Mantel6 And there you have it…my farmhouse fall mantel! And stay tuned because more fall decor is on the way!

Remember to pin it!

  7. Beautiful! I did mine last week and wasn't completely happy with it. Now I know what is missing from my mantle! Candles and a wreath! I thought about a wreath hanging from the mirror, but wasn't sure. Thanks for the inspiration!

    1. So glad that you like it! It is actually an antique from a local antique mall. You can tell from the way that it is made that it originally went on a vanity.
