Using My Favorite Vintage Finds in a Centerpiece

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Using Vintage Finds in a CenterpieceI have made it my mission over the last few months to be very selective about what follows me home...#toomuchstuff! Sooo... I have only collected a few special finds to share with you today. When I decided to spotlight them in the same centerpiece, I realized that I have been unknowingly collecting along a theme…perfect for creating a vignette! Can you see what it is? Yes, I guess you could call them vintage metal!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Breakfast RoomI gathered them all up on my breakfast table in my Williams Sonoma Outlet bargain woven tray, sitting atop my burlap table square for some added texture.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Using Vintage Finds in a CenterpieceThe really fun part is that they are treasures from three different thrifting/antiquing outings with good friends so they will have good memories attached to them, too!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Vintage Lamb Cake MoldBut I have to say that my favorite is my vintage lamb cake mold…discovered at an antique shop in the North Georgia mountains! I have been eyeing these for a while and finally decided that this one really needed to live at my house! I couldn’t wait until Easter to share him, although I am sure he will definitely make another appearance then!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Vintage Molds He is guarding a little stack of vintage dessert molds that I found at a local antique fair in the spring…all ten of them for only $2.00! Woo hoo!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Antique Quadruple Silverplate Duck Handle Sugar BowlI found this antique quadruple silverplate sugar bowl at the same fair…also for $2.00. I just have a thing about quadruple silverplate, although it often loses its finish as this one has. However, when you find it, you know it is more than 100 years old since it was not made after 1900. I love the idea of all of that history!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Vintage Duck Handle Sugar BowlAnd this one had something else that attracted me. Can you see it? The funny duck eating the handle! I knew this one had to be mine!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Vintage Butter KnivesI have also added another vintage butter knife to my little collection. It’s the one with the grapey handle in the foreground…a twist handle Rogers Brothers silverplate in the Vintage pattern. I love the patina of old silverplate! That’s my little stack of lace doily dessert plates from Pier 1 beneath them.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Using Vintage Finds in a CenterpieceUnfortunately, the single digit temperatures this past winter killed my poor hydrangea all the way back to the ground, so I had to resort to faux blooms to fill my little pitcher. I think they almost pass for real, though. And they came from Walmart at only $5.00…not bad considering that they are $13 at the craft stores!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Cat Pitcher I took them out so that you could see my pitcher. There’s a curious kitty hanging on the rim and peeking in! I love it!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Rooster and Hen Salt and pepper ShakersI added my little white hen and rooster shakers, a sweet gift from Babs at Upstairs Downstairs, for another touch of white and to add a little interest outside of the tray. They are at home in all of my vintage-y, frenchy centerpieces!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Using Vintage Finds in a Centerpiece I really like the contrast of the textures and the combination of the soft blues and creamy whites with the patina of the vintage metals! It just makes me happy when I look at it!

Isabella Miss Isabella says she doesn’t know what the big deal is about all of this old stuff. Her favorite thing is her little green froggy toy…to match her green eyes! I think that color is perfect for her!

  1. It's all so pretty, Deb. And look at that darling pitcher, how cute is that. Your blue and white has always stopped me in my tracks. "Hi Isabella" Hugs, Deb

  2. This is the first time I have heard of quadruple silver plate. I'm going to look it up. Your vignette is lovely.

  3. Oh how beautiful and I adore that lamb mold. It is stunning.

  4. Beautiful collection. All the little bits + pieces are so pretty when clustered in a group like you've done. And I spy some Quimper in the back (love!).

  5. Love your little lamb. I found one very similar a couple years ago at Salvation Army on clearance after Christmas for only 30 cents!! I was sooo thrilled to find him. Probably my best deal ever!

  6. Oh my gosh Debbie!! That is so darn cute ~ and to think I have my grandma's lamb mold in the cupboard! I LOVE that you have it on display...and now I can't wait to get mine out and find a spot for it!

  7. Sweet treasures and I love how you end your posts with one of your kitties.
It always makes me smile. Your pillows have been a big inspiration to me.

  8. Very pretty. I love metals because they're not fragile at all! The silver looks great with the blues and whites. Love those twist-handled butter knives too - not so easy to come by, and neither are the lamb molds. Great finds.

  9. Such a darling collection of treasures. Grouped together they make quite a pretty vignette.
    Happy 4th.
    Hugs, Gee

  10. Debbie, Your "happy tray" is just the cutest. Love your new lamb cake mold and the kitty pitcher. I would never have known that the hydrangea blooms were faux. They really look good. You're so sweet to mention the rooster and hen s&p shakers.. They look so happy at your house. :) Thanks for giving them a good "home". Hugs and have a great 4th!

  11. You actually fooled me with those hydrangeas... ;-) They look great. I just love the lace edged plates and all the silver-plate pieces. This is a wonderful vignette!

  12. Debbie,
Love, love, love your vintage finds combined to make an amazing centerpiece, dear friend!!!
I adore the photo of your kitchen table with the bakers rack and blue and white plates on the wall!
Miss Isabella is a true beauty!!!
Happy Fourth of July to you, and The Staff, dear friend!!!

  13. I could not help but keep admiring your blue transfer ware plates on your yellow wall. Lovely!

  14. I too always use a tray in the center of the table, then change out all of the things on the tray....I love the lamb and I do understand Isabella, my tina never understands what all the fuss is about on the table as well, a nap suits her so much more...

  15. Everything is so cute! I love the little details on each piece! It's fun to put out things that have good memories attached!

  16. How lovely. I was thrifting too and found a one side only Wilton lamb mold for my hording stash, I mean collection. Not a fan of gray moss because I have asthma. I tend to use green excelsior instead. Love Isabella who seems really quiet. Some days my house looks like a commercial for Cirque du Soleil with cats running thru the house.

Thanks so much for stopping by and taking the time to comment! I appreciate my wonderful readers!... Debbie
