My Farmhouse Christmas Mantel

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I took a little time off to get my house all ready for Christmas and I can’t wait to share it! And…I have to say…this year’s mantel is my favorite ever! I have been searching out galvanized goodies for the last few months with a farmhouse theme in mind for this Christmas…

…and here’s the result…my farmhouse Christmas mantel! And there will be even more galvanized touches throughout my home this Christmas! Can you tell…I love to load up the mantel with greenery and add lights for sparkle!

But without doubt, the star of my mantel is the pair of rustic barnstable lanterns! I love the rusty, farmhouse look! They came with dark glass but I removed it to show off the structured look and let the candles shine! (In case you are wondering, I found them at Joss and Main several weeks ago.)

To add to the farmhouse look, I used a simple grapevine wreath with greenery and berries and finished off with a frenchy grain sack burlap bow.

The burlap stockings are the same ones that I made three Christmases ago…and I love them! I added a little rustic ornament to each one to give it a different look.You can see them and my mercury glass and sheet music mantel here. And to add even more rustic feeling to my fireplace, I am using my vintage olive bucket to hold firewood. It was a little splurge several months ago that seems to have found its proper place in my home!

The farmhouse theme continues on the coffee table where a pewter pitcher holds seasonal greenery and berries. Red candles in matching pewter candle holders add a pop of color. And…I love my little lamb…perfect for Christmas!

On the demilune table next to the sofa you will find a little snowy tree, a sleigh and one of my prized possessions…a book that I bought from the bouquinistes…the book stalls along the Seine River in Paris…when I was a college student many moons ago! It is over 270 years old…predating the French Revolution and published under the auspices of King Louis XVI! You can read more about it here.
