My Farmhouse Christmas Mantel

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I took a little time off to get my house all ready for Christmas and I can’t wait to share it! And…I have to say…this year’s mantel is my favorite ever! I have been searching out galvanized goodies for the last few months with a farmhouse theme in mind for this Christmas…

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT My Farmhouse Christmas Mantel …and here’s the result…my farmhouse Christmas mantel! And there will be even more galvanized touches throughout my home this Christmas! Can you tell…I love to load up the mantel with greenery and add lights for sparkle!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Farmhouse MantelBut without doubt, the star of my mantel is the pair of rustic barnstable lanterns! I love the rusty, farmhouse look! They came with dark glass but I removed it to show off the structured look and let the candles shine! (In case you are wondering, I found them at Joss and Main several weeks ago.)

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Farmhouse Wreath To add to the farmhouse look, I used a simple grapevine wreath with greenery and berries and finished off with a frenchy grain sack burlap bow.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Farmhouse MantelThe burlap stockings are the same ones that I made three Christmases ago…and I love them! I added a little rustic ornament to each one to give it a different look. You can see them and my mercury glass and sheet music mantel here. And…if you would like to try your hand at making your own cuffed Christmas stockings, you will find a tutorial here.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Olive BucketAnd to add even more rustic feeling to my fireplace, I am using my vintage olive bucket to hold firewood. It was a little splurge several months ago that seems to have found its proper place in my home!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Christmas VignetteThe farmhouse theme continues on the coffee table where a pewter pitcher holds seasonal greenery and berries. Red candles in matching pewter candle holders add a pop of color. And…I love my little lamb…perfect for Christmas!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Christmas Vignette On the demilune table next to the sofa you will find a little snowy tree, a sleigh and one of my prized possessions…a book that I bought from the bouquinistes…the book stalls along the Seine River in Paris…when I was a college student many moons ago! It is over 270 years old…predating the French Revolution and published under the auspices of King Louis XVI! You can read more about it here.

Baby KittyAnd just in case you haven’t had enough, our co-host Baby Kitty would like to show you some of our mantels from Christmas past! :-)

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Burlap and Plaid Mantel5Last year, I shared my burlap and plaid Christmas mantel…inspired by the burlap and plaid stockings at Ballard Designs. You can get a better look here.

020 Another favorite was my mantel starring French ticking, burlap and mercury glass. You can see more of it here.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Christmas 2010 And finally, here is one from three years ago…my mercury glass, sheet music and burlap Christmas mantel. You can see more by clicking here. And if you would like to find out how I made the sheet music wreath and Pottery Barn inspired candles, you will find the tutoriall here.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Farmhouse MantelAnd finally, here’s another look at this year’s Christmas mantel. I still have to vote it as my all-time favorite! What do you have planned for your mantel?

Remember to pin it!

All your mantels have been great! The burlap stockings are very cute. I like the extra details you added to them this year.

  7. I have to say Debbie that this one is my favorite mantel too. I even pinned it. You should really decorate for people. I hate you but in a good way...you have that knack that I wish I had with crafts and decorating. I just drool every single time I check out your blog. You have such a gorgeous and inviting home. You need to do some classes for us untalented people.

  22. Debbie, Beautiful as always. I couldn't help but notice your table with a Charles Faudree book. Have you heard the news that the King of French Country passed away last Wednesday? He was such a talanted man who will be missed here in Tulsa and around the world. I have a whole Pintrest board dedicated to this amazing man and have followed his work for 20 plus years. I know you loved him too. RIP Mr. Faudree. Patty Gammel

  38. Debbie, each year your mantel is beautifully decorated. I love the different stockings you've made through the years. I bought some burlap stockings after Christmas last year with the thought of using them on the back of the dining chairs. Now I might switch gears and hang them across the mantel as you've done. I've not started my decorating, but hope to get to it this weekend. We just returned home last night. Lots to get done!

    1. They are called Barnstable lanterns. These are the 15 inch ones and they are rectangular, not square. However, they did have the 13 inch square ones again this week. So glad you like them!
