Summery Seaside Lanterns

If you follow my blog, you know I love lanterns…but mine are all black and not very summery. Sooo…when I spied these wooden lanterns for a song, I snatched them up! Much lighter and more summery, huh? You will notice that each of them has a different colored chippy finish for a mismatched vintage look…love them! I decided to give them a seaside look with some beachy touches.

Lantern 1 I added a rope..always a nautical look… and a starfish to this one. I think it’s my favorite.

Lantern 2 Another starfish tops off this lantern. That sun and sea bleached conch shell was found by my dad during a trip to the Florida Keys many years ago…a real treasure!

Lantern 3aLike the others, this lantern is pretty simple…filled with a candle wrapped in rope…more nautical touches.

Lantern 4 And the last one is filled with sea shells that just say summer! Wish I could say that they bring back wonderful memories of trips to the beach and collecting them along the sandy shore…but I got them at Goodwill for next to nothing! lol

Summer Lanterns Here’s a last look at my summery lanterns. I am thinking I will enjoy them…perhaps on the porch or scattered around the house for some beachy accents.

beach bk Baby Kitty says all this talk about the beach is getting him fired up to pack up and head out! Me, too! How about you?

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed a little peek at my summery lanterns! Please visit these wonderful bloggers and their beautiful blogs to see what they are up to and to find a list of this week’s participants!

  11. Your lanterns are lovely. I really like that weathered look. If you are tired of your black lanterns . . . how about spray painting them some bright and cheery colors. I'm always surprised at what a can of spray paint can do to give a little new life to an old item. Sometimes you have something that you love, but are just wanting a change. Have a great week. Connie :)
P.S. I have this delightful birdcage that I purchased a few years ago . . . I'm thinking about painting it white and going shabby chic with it.

Your group of lanterns was a real find. I love to use a few seashells for the summer look on our sun porch. Thanks for sharing the inspiration.

  17. What great lanterns. I love them all. You did a nice job of beachifying them. Where in the heck did you find wooden lanterns though? I don't know as I have seen any that are not metal. Very sweet!

When we re-built this house (on the bay) we were looking all over for a big nautical fixture for the "look out tower" (an oversized cupola with glass on top of our main roof). Anyway, I found a huge old lantern about 30" tall and wired it to hold a light. It comes on at night as kind a beacon to find our house. Hope you are having a great night- xo Diana
