This week’s thrifting finds are a double feature…Coffee Talk and Pillow Talk! First, I have made a few changes in my coffee bar. You have already seen my French coffee press ($1.91) and my cinnamon shaker ($1.91). Now I want to show you…
…my new basket for my Tassimo T discs! Can you tell what it really is? It’s a silver cracker server that I found at Goodwill for only $2.92! You could also use it to store extra teaspoons and, of course, for crackers, but I like to try to find a more interesting purpose for my GW hunting trophies if I can.
This wonderful hand painted (fait main) French cafĂ© au lait cup (99 cents) from a past post seemed to go along with my coffee bar. I added one of my Quimper plates to dress it up a little. Françoise…I have your cup and I’m not giving it back! lol
Won’t you have a cappuccino? I’m addicted! Now, grab your cup and join me for…
…a tour of my new pillow finds! I love this one! It was only $13…a real steal for a nice needlepoint throw pillow! And…do you notice anything?
It’s very Quimper-esque!! See the little man in his Breton garb and the stylized Quimper tree? Love it!
It has found a place in the French country chair in my dining room! (That’s Sticky Paws on the chair…keeps the staff from using the rush seat as a scratching post! Of course, I remove it for my guests!)
I found this tapestry pillow at a flea/antique market for only $12…and it came with a down insert! Woo hoo! I have seen a nice down insert for a pillow this size cost as much as $50! Here’s a trick, though…you can find expensive down pillows at Goodwill for under $3.00! I have changed the inserts in almost all of my pillows for down at a very low cost. Just give the pillows a karate chop, and if it stays, the insert is down! It doesn’t matter what the cover looks like because you are buying it for the insert.
But my favorite find is this needlepoint pillow for my black and white toile bedroom! Roosters and sunflowers…could you get any frenchier? lol And it was only $13! I actually saw this one on line for about $45! I love the scalloped edge!
And finally, a nod to our lovely webmaster, Kitty, who never tires of posing among the pillows…nothing could be more beautiful! And…notice how she matches the decor!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Please visit these wonderful ladies and their beautiful blogs to see what they are up to and to find a list of this week’s participants!

But you didn't talk about your French press! Back in 1980 I tasted my first cup of coffee from a french press and I was hooked. We have a coffee maker for when the house is full of people but in the morning I want my coffee from the press.
ReplyDeleteI just love the repurposing of the cracker server!
Your pillow finds are wonderful and very Quimper-esque the one!
ReplyDeleteGW is amazing when you have a repurposing eye...
Thanks for sharing...
Hope your Sunday is sweet!

Sweet Up-North Mornings...
Hi Deb - beautiful post once again. I just love the little cracker holder and I like to find different uses for things too. I love what you did with it. My first cup of coffee was shared with my grandmother when I was 8 years of age. I'll never forget it. And, of course, enjoyed seeing your kitty looking so beautiful amongst the pillows. Have a wonderful week. Deb.
ReplyDeleteDebbie, you are so smart. I would never have thought to use the cracker tray for the coffee, but it is perfect. The tray is gorgeous too. Your pillows are all just wonderful. What great finds. The Quimper one is beautiful, I love all the detail and the rooster one of course stole my heart. I have one like the pretty blue and yellow with the bow. I love it too. Hope you are all doing well. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI love all the pillows, Debbie/ The cracker tray is beautiful and what a brilliant idea for it's use!
ReplyDeleteHello Debbie. Love the pillows and Kitty is so cute!

Love the "other" use for the cracker holder - both useful and cute! Hope we'll have some great luck tomorrow "on the hunt"! Linda
ReplyDeleteThe cracker server is genius!! I laugh every time I see "coffee talk." Reminds me of that old SNL skit, "Cwaawffee Tawlk with Linda Richmond." ;)

ReplyDeleteSaw the pics from Georgia which were lots of fun. I missed you SO much over our girls' visit and wished you could have come with Claudie and Julie. Have been sans computer access and will be again for several weeks. Long story that I put on my blog, but I will see you just as soon as I return. Keep the light burning...

ReplyDeleteDebbie, you must have your black belt in bargain shopping! I am always impressed with your special finds. Those pillows are just wonderful additions to your already beautiful home.
ReplyDeletePat the kitties for me, will ya? The Webmaster "Kitty" looks EXACTLY like my old Shultzie kitty. He was sooooo silky & I miss stroking his fur. :(
Debbie, I see you struck the jackpot again with your finds. Love those pillows. I just saw a cracker holder like yours at the flea market for around nine dollars I think. You got a very good deal. Love how your kitty matches the bed. Now that is styling!

That cracker holder is perfect for your coffee! Don't you love when things work out that way!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you found those pillows at Goodwill. I've been keeping my eye out for needle point or tapestry style pillows for ages. I've seen them go as high as $300. I haven't found any i could afford. I noticed the quimper style on the one right away. What good luck for you!
Hugs,
Dawn

While visiting antique shops in Mt. Dora, Florida this past weekend, I saw a silver cruet set. I wanted to buy it and create a saladscape...but, I thought that would be 'copying' the great "Miss Debbie!" I'm still drooling over that post of yours!:) Anywho...love the cracker holder for your coffee disk and of course, I LOVE the pillows. I just don't know how you get the kitties to pose so perfectly and look so pretty!
