Finally! The toile guest bedroom that I have been blabbing about for years is taking shape! I am so excited to finally see the room that has been brewing in my little brain for ages! I still need to hang a few pictures and I am searching for the perfect frenchy black headboard, but I am getting close!
I have been showing you what I have been collecting for the past year and I am happy to say that virtually everything I chose made it into the room!
The plant stand was painted black and topped with the wooden tole-look tray that I found while Goodwill hunting in Asheville, NC with Barb and Kathysue. Thanks to my friend Pat for the inspiration! The bedding came from Target ages ago…the original source for my toile vision!
The bunnies were hung over the Target bookcase which I filled with baskets (also from Target) and topped with some GW and clearance aisle bargains. I say the bunnies were hung because…
…last week I found this framed poster while GW hunting with my friend Linda at Nina’s Nest and now I am debating. The poster must have been a souvenir from a trip to France that was professionally framed, because there is nothing available like it anywhere. The artist Adrien Moroni is from Monaco and has a studio in picturesque Saint Paul de Vence. And…I only paid $6.96!! I’m trying to introduce some splashes of red and yellow to brighten up the room. What do you think? Maybe the bunnies can go over the bed facing each other?
My wonderful flea market frenchy chair is here along with a new Target chest (on sale) that I had to assemble…yikes! One of my homemade vintage tags is hanging from a knob. And Isabella is checking out my $40 bargain rug from the Ballard outlet!
I love this frenchy print! I had been eyeing it at an antique/flea market for months when it was finally reduced and had to go home with me! Woo hoo! Do you see that my Dollar Tree critters are the same as the ones that are stacked up in the picture? The lamp was a GW find to which I added a Hobby Lobby tassel. I bought the shade for a song while standing in line behind a woman who wanted only the lamp base she was buying! lol It never hurts to ask!
And the vase is actually a broken silver flea market coffee pot that got polished and repurposed! I am so happy about my new room that sometimes I just stand in the doorway, stare and smile! lol Do you ever do that?
Hmmmm… now there is only one problem. My staff thinks I did all of this for them and they have claimed the room as their new lounge! lol
Thanks so much for stopping by! Please head on over to Mary’s at Little Red House for Mosaic Monday to see one of her beautiful mosaics and to find a list of this week’s participants. You will be treated to some wonderful photos from some very talented people!
Next, be sure to visit Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Metamorphosis Monday where you can get a peek at her gorgeous home and see what sorts of changes she is making, as well as find out who else is playing along! I can’t wait to see what everyone has going on!
I’m also joining Beth at Gypsy Fish Journal for Silver Sunday! It’s a new blog party and what a great idea! It will be fun to see the wonderful ideas our fellow bloggers have for using Grandma’s old silver in some new ways!
See you next time! A la prochaine!

ReplyDeleteDebbie, I think I would take over that room, too, if I were one of your staff! What a delightful room, love the black and white with little pops of color here and there. I really like where you have the picture of the bunnies, but...I also like the Moroni there, too...sorry, I am of no help.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful room Debbie.. and yes.. I think I'd stand and stare too... Love all your bargains...especially the silver coffee pot repurposed...
ReplyDeleteCareful now...your guests will not want to leave!
ReplyDeleteI am in love with that room. You chose everything so well. All the pieces fit together perfectly.
I have to tell you...my mom has the french kitty poster and my dad has the toile bedding. :) Great minds think alike.
Debbie - fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI love your finished room. I did my master bedroom in blue and white toile and sometimes I wish I'd done it in black and white, especially when I see a room like yours. It's really lovely!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful guest room! You may get lots of company !!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday to you~
~Maria

It just turned out beautifully. I have to say, I prefer the bunnies above the cabinet...but, I also love the poster...just in another spot. There is something about the bunnies and the chicken items that go so well together.
ReplyDeleteI love the bedding and that rug! Jealous!

O-M-G, Debbie! I love this room, I will be over immediately! It's ok if it turns into the staff lounge I don't mind them sleeping with me. hahaha! I do love the bunny pictures.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great weekend, Bonnie
Oh so pretty! You have very chic staff -- I would turn that into my lounge as well!
ReplyDeleteWow, Debbie! I can see why the staff wants this room as their new lounge. It is all so beautifully put together. Of course I adore all the black and white toile, but your special touches add so much additional charm. The St. Paul de Vance poster should stay. It is perfect for that spot. Such a wonderful hilltown. Have you traveled there? I also think it is so dear that your little critters match the ones in the stacking scene. Super! Can I come spend the weekend? Hugs ~ Sarah
ReplyDeleteCan I come stay???! ;) I love that plant stand turned beside table...lovely!! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat room. Wish I could come and stay!
ReplyDelete- The Tablescaper
Lookie, lookie, Cookie - I recognize that tray. Ohhhh - seeing that tray brings back such wonderful memories doesn't it. I wish we could be there again right now. You're room is just gorgous. I remmeber when you were trying to decide paint colors. I missed your frenchy chair find - love it!!!! It is a beautiful guest room, and you should be very proud of yourself. My fave is still the tray table, I think because I will never forget the look on your face when you found it. Hugs, Barb
ReplyDeleteDebbie, I absolutely love your room. The pretty green walls are just the perfect color green and the bedding is stunning. You have also put together some really wonderful accessories. I think the bunnies would be fabulous over the bed. Love, love, love it all. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteOh, I love your guest room. It whispers its Frenchness n every detail. I love, love, love the bedding. I bought back a St. Paul de Vence poster and a painting in my suitcase. Such a heavenly place--I never so so many Yorkies! And they "spoke" French! LOL

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT.....
ReplyDeleteI LOVE toile and I LOVE this room! I am so jealous of that rug. I NEED that rug!! Or at least a Ballard Outlet! Beautiful, simply beautiful.
ReplyDeleteDebbie, I just can't believe how beautifully this room came together. Good things come to those who wait! Love the Moroni poster, I like it where it hands. I think the bunnies would look great facing each other over the bed based on the headboard that you find. You might want to wait until you find that before you decide. And I cannot believe that you found that rug for $40.00! Love this room, I'll be calling with a reservation soon lol. Hugs, Kat

ReplyDeleteSo pretty!! With a guest room like that you should get lots of guests!!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely a gorgeous bedroom. Love the black and white...wish I could be there!

ReplyDeletehttp://domesticprincessintraining.blogspot.com
You have got such a fabulous eye. I love all your choices. The room is stunning and if I get to stay there the staff is welcome to share the room with me.
ReplyDeleteDebbie, The room is coming along splendidly. I love your $6.96 print, too, but I think if you put the bunny prints over the bed you will need to add a lot more plates/pictures, etc to beef up the wall vignette. They seem small but can't tell for sure. Is it a queen bed? Could you use the print over the bed and add plates or wall vases or sconces to the sides? Just kicking out ideas for you...
ReplyDeleteAnxious to see what you do!
hugs, Sue
It's a lovely room Debbie! It all came together so well. I love your choice of wall color, it kind of softens the contrast of all the black and white. Your guests will never leave!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Dawn
Debbie, I love your toile bedroom, I like how you have taken old and new items and made the bedroom your own. Everything is so perfect but not over done. The hints of red and yellow are just right, I would love to be your overnight guest, as would my 4-legged fur balls. I think your staff members may be smiling too, all fur ball lovers know how much cats enjoy new things, there probably saying to each other lets explore!! LOL
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your new room it looks great.
How pretty! It all came together so nicely!
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Debbie!
Gorgeous! I'm love it all! The color of your wall is perfect for the toile...all your pieces are so pretty! This is quite an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteOh my, I think we maybe twins separated at birth! I too am a plate addict and my master bedroom is the same shade of green, I just ordered a black & white toile comforter set & love the Ballards rug. My family can't understand why we need so many plates but they just make me happy! Love your blog.
ReplyDeleteOK Debbie, you are getting waaaay too much done. This is truly inspiring to me. I have been wanting to get my guest room done too. I honestly love everything I see in this room (and especially those sweet cats!) Very, very well done. Love the sunflowers in the old silver.. oh it's very nice....
ReplyDeleteDebbie I have not made my rounds around blog land in so long but have slowly been getting to all the places I love to visit this past week. Yoours being one! I am so excited I stopped by to see your lovely guest room! I just love it! In fact I was smiling as I think you and I share so many similar tastes and in fact I have many of the elements you have in that very room! Okay so I have an idea that may or maynot interest you for the bed. I have been doing a lot of on line searching for a project that is going to involve wall decals. They have a huge selection of wall decals out there that are head boards. One in particular I thought to myself looked very French indeed and one could easily house a panel upholstered on top to really fool the idea. If this interests you do a search for wall decal headboards and browse awhile. If you can't Find what I am talking about just email me and I will hook you up! Blessings to you friend!

I agree that the splash of red and yellow are a great fusion. :) Hey, my boss has not given me a nod yet to take Thursday off. I'm going to send her an email reminder tomorrow and will keep my fingers crossed. Ciao for now friend! ~hugs, ~CC Catherine
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie,
ReplyDeleteYour room has such an air of sophistication and serenity! There are so many wonderful things in this post; it's difficult to say what I like best. Love the repurposed coffee pot, the Ballard rug, the beautifully-framed poster (what a steal!). I'm impressed that you assembled that great-looking chest. Brave you are!
I'll admit something here ... I'm not usually a fan of music on blogs, but I always enjoy hearing the wonderful French songs on yours. It's the most beautiful language on Earth, isn't it?
Bill
