Mosaic/Metamorphosis Monday...or...Shifting Sands

IMG_8467 I am back from my first trip to the beach since I started blogging and I must say that I found myself looking at it through very different eyes! Have you found that to be true…that blogging has given you a whole new perspective? I never stepped outside without my camera and I found even the simplest subjects to be fascinating. But perhaps the most interesting to me was…sand!

page1 Of all of the elements of nature, it seems to be the most malleable, changing from one second to the next with the forces around it…morphing from one texture or pattern to another…

page2 …reflecting, if only temporarily, the presence of living beings on its surface…

page …or serving as a canvas for those with an active imagination and an artistic flair…

IMG_8456

…and lifting the spirits of one very weary blogger in need of some relief from constant rain, a leaky roof and all that it entails. Sigh…

Thanks so much for dropping by! Please be sure to pay a visit to Mary at Little Red House for Mosaic Monday to see one of her beautiful mosaics and to find out how to play along.

met mon And then head on over to Susan’s at Between Naps on the Porch for Metamorphosis Monday to see some wonderful changes of all sorts and to find a list of this week’s participants! I am hoping that Susan will consider sand castles a metamorphosis and allow me to play along!! See you next time! A la prochaine!

  2. Yea! Debbie's back! Your sand mosaics are wonderful, but I'm still kind of jealous. I know just what you mean about blogging changing the way we look at things. That's one thing I love about blogging - it makes me think about thinks I might not normally think of. Glad you had a wonderful trip. laurie

  3. I live near the Atlantic Ocean so I know what you mean about the sand being a wonderful canvas for nature. Your mosaics are wonderfula nd I enjoyed the sounds of the gulls and waves in the background. Blogging has certainly made me take photos with a new eye....I appreciate so much more of what I see.
Hope you get your roof fixed soon

  27. Hi Debbie...and welcome back!! You missed a great lunch with the girls but I'm just jealous that you were at the beach and I wasn't...Love the pictures of the sand....very interesting...and nothing feels better then walking on sand....wet or dry it doesn't matter...it just feels good to the feet!! Oh, I go onto Linda's blog all the time and for some odd reason it will never let me leave a comment...just let her know that I read it all the time and I feel bad that I can never leave a little message...don't know what the problem is....Sue

  29. These are great photos! What beach is that? The sand is so white! Nothing like our beaches here on the west coast! Glad you had a chance to unwind and enjoy some quiet time! Hugs!

  30. It really is amazing that sand morphs into so many shapes and forms, both with and without the help of man.... You saw and captured so many things that many of us would just take for granted.
I hope all of your little issues get taken care of soon!! And perhaps more on YOUR schedule! *grin*

  31. Well, blogging has certainly changed my view of the world. I've actually managed to get my camera back from my son who 'borrowed' it two years ago when I first bought it. Looking forward to taking some outdoor shots very soon. Lovely photos, especially the last one - I just want to be there. xx

  38. I sure have missed you! I just invoked your name tonight. I was over at Janie's blog (Blondie's Journal), and she has some French plates with expressions that are close to impossible to translate. I tried with any online thingy, but had no luck. If you get a chance, you might want to give it a whirl. They're interesting plates. :-)

Loved the toy that your sweetie designed for Sarah's niece. So adorable!

    XO,

    Sheila

  39. Debbie~~~

I wanted to thank you for the info on the plates. I couldn't find your email. So, you think I got a good deal for $40.00?? I am wondering if it is possble to add to these. They really are cool.

    Thanks so much! :-)
