A Double Post...or...A Metamorphosis Using Thrify Treasures!

I have been Goodwill hunting again and have used my finds to redecorate part of my bedroom, so I am combining two posts! I am participating in Metamorphosis Monday with our hostess with the mostest, Susan at Between Naps on the Porch and also in Today's Thrifty Treasures with the undisputed queen of thrifting, Rhoda at Southern Hospitality! Be sure to visit the amazing blogs of both of these wonderful ladies to see what they are up to and to find a list of this week's participants!

This is the chest in my bedroom as it has been for longer than I care to admit. I have been staring at it for ages. It needs color! Some of the things I love and will keep...the lamp, for instance. It was my grandmother's and I remember standing on her front porch as a little girl and seeing it in her hallway through the glass in her front door...welcoming us in at night. Most of the rest has to go...somewhere else, at least.

So when I was Goodwill hunting the other day with my friend Linda at Nina's Nest, we spied some botanical prints that had just the right colors for my bedroom.

Wow! Look at that...$69.95! Don't you love it when you see the original price?

Here was Goodwill's price. Hmmmmm....still a little pricey. But...good news!...I happened to go in again on Friday and every painting in the place was $4.54!! Well, needless to say this one hopped in my cart so fast it would make your head spin!

And...taaaaa daaaaa! Here is my make-over! I re-used the lamp and the clock. I added my painting and another Goodwill find , the topiary which I bought for $6.76. I have its mate, also. I covered some books...diet books I'm not using...lol...with a toile print paper shopping bag and added things I already had from around the house. Total cost...$11.30!! Woooo hooo!

Another great find at Goodwill was this hand-blown Mexican glass pitcher with the cobalt rim for $5.25. Isn't it beautiful? I will be proud to serve my guests from this pitcher!

Here is a closer look. Can you see the wonderful little bubbles in the glass? I love the blue rim! I found it online priced at $35, but on sale for $23...plus shipping. Soooo....I think I did pretty well on this one!

This is one of my favorites! I found this wonderful frenchy sign at a near-by flea market. It is a signed plaque from Connie Pentek Designs and is an interpretation of hand-blocked prints from the South of France, according to the information on the back. I paid $9.00, but I found it online for around $30. If you would like to see more examples, click here. I have put it near the front door to greet my guests as they enter my French country home!
That's it for now! Be sure to visit Susan and Rhoda to see more before and after projects and thrifting finds! See you next time! A la prochaine!

Quelle bonne idée - le papier du sac pour couvrir les livres - et le panneau "bonjour" - je l'adore! Et le picher (je n'ai aucune idée comment le dire) est parfait! C'est une transformation super! 42. Your dresser makeover looks so pretty all made over. I love all of the colors together. You did really well on that pitcher, those things tend to be a bit pricey. I got a similar pitcher & the matching glasses in Mexico several years ago, but I do not remember how much I paid. I am telling you, you two are forever finding great deals!!

I thought about you over the weekend while shopping at Penny's. They have their French linens on clearence right now.

    Have a super week, Nicole

  43. Debbie, of course I love everything you bought, and the prices too! It never ceases to amaze me what wonderful treasures are in that GW. You and Linda must be the only people with good taste who are shopping there, or these treasures would be snapped up when they came in the door! I especially love that blue pitcher! It is so pretty and such a deal. laurie

  45. You are one lucky lady and your new treasures are fantastic! Love the new vignette on the chest and all of your wonderful finds.

(Hmmm, I could cover cookbooks in gorgeous paper or fabric & cover the house with them! It would be a great use for them, since I don't cook & never open the covers!)
