Tablescape Thursday...or...Easter Brunch

Welcome to Tablescape Thursday with our hostess with the mostest Susan at Between Naps on the Porch! Be sure to visit her blog to see one of her fabulous tablescapes and to find the list of this week's participants!

This week I'm getting the jump on Easter a little bit with a tablescape for an Easter brunch! I wanted to use the beautiful pink tulips from my last post, so I hope you won't mind my being a little early!

Baby Kitty is suffering from a case of jet lag, having just returned from his golfing jaunt in Scotland, so our own Miss Kitty has agreed to step in as our co-hostess this week! Please welcome her as she is a behind-the-scenes kind of gal in our corporation and generally shies away from the spotlight!

Since this will be a casual Easter brunch, I have set the table in the breakfast area. I am not using a tablecloth this week...a little unusual for me...because I decided that I like the contrast of the pink and white against the dark wood of the table. It almost looks like icing on a big chocolate Easter egg!! lol

Also, I wanted to use my new white-washed rattan chargers that I showed you on Metamorphosis Monday! I think they look sort of like an Easter basket, don't you? The plates were sale finds at TJ Maxx. You'll get a closer look at them in just a moment. I am using my "gold" flatware from Target to match the little gold ribbons on the plates.

My favorites are the doily plates from Pier 1! You will see that there are four different plates in the set. I am also using some Easter egg napkin rings that I found at a flea market...only $1.50 for four of them! They are also all different, so each person gets his or her own special place setting! I am showing you my favorite first. Maybe this will be my place!! lol

Here is another with a purple egg with little roses. Do you see that the doily plate is different? Hmmm...this one might be my favorite! Now you can see the design of the dinner plates a little better. I love the gold trim!

Here is yet another doily plate with a little yellow egg. Hmmm..maybe I like this egg best! The doily plate looks a little less girly. Maybe I'll let this be my grandson's place!

And here is the last one with its little pink egg and still another doily plate! What do you think? Do you have a favorite? I can't make up my mind!!

As a centerpiece, I am using pink tulips in a swirled pink glass vase. I have added this bunny that I found at Marshalls. I love the fabric lining his big floppy ears!

Here's a close-up of his funny little face. Isn't he cute?

I also added a glittery egg that I found at Michael's and finished it off with some springy-looking ribbon that I found in the sale aisle!

I am also using my pink depression glass creamer, sugar bowl and marmalade jar again. I am usually not a pink person, but I seem to be buying a lot of it lately!

Here is a little artichoke candle holder that I have repurposed as an egg cup! I added a little bow to the egg. I love the little bunny and chickie salt and pepper shakers. My sister gave them to me several years ago!

Here is another egg in its artichoke egg cup. I tied the bow a little differently.

I placed the little bunny shakers and all of the other little extras on the salad/dessert plates that match the dinner plates to keep them from getting lost on the table. They seem to have a little more presence sitting on the plates. I love these bunnies...very inexpensive from Publix several years ago.

And there you have my Easter brunch! I hope you enjoyed it! Please be sure to visit Susan and continue your tour de tablescapes!!

  1. Salut Debbie,
??rire?) Linda

  4. Debbie, I love your Easter brunch setting! You know I almost bought those plates at TJ Maxx last week when I saw them. They are really pretty with the gold edging. But I was able to control myself, lol! I love the doily plates. I did not see those or I wouldn't be able to control myself on those. The bunny, napkin holders, salt and pepper shakers and the eggs are all so pretty....Christine

  9. Debbie,

I love this tablescape, it is putting me in the mood for Easter which comes early this year. I have seen the doily plates somewhere here in blogland and I have been meaning to go to Pier I to have a look~I love them and they go with almost any dinner plate! And your little (and Big!) bunny adornments add a little whimsy, what fun! I think you are right, putting the smaller things on the plates centers them, I will have to try that...

Very pretty tablescape. One day I will try this, goodness knows I have enough dishes!

    xoxo

  56. This is so lovely. My fave is the egg napkin rings. O and I see those chargers you got at WalMart and whitewashed. They are perfect for this tablescape. :) Seeing your Miss Kitty as hostess reminds me so much of my "Baby" who disappeared about 19 months ago. We think she was probably dinner for some coyote that I didn't know was in our neighborhood. Your kitty is so pretty and she makes a wonderful hostess.
Have a great weekend. :-) Brenda

OK, I had grandchildren for months, and worn out. You have given me the dish spirit! I might can get creative now. lol I bought lots of dishes this last month, and searching for a place to put them. Thinking of using an rod iron with wooden top with drawers for a buffett, ( until find my antique dream one) I shall need shelves above to hold the new dish patterns, I have bought. lol Got to get to work! Love your Easter table.

  65. I have to tell you that I could not believe my eyes when I stumbled on this post! Because there in the first picture of your adorable table were the pink dishes I wanted so badly just last week! You see my husband & I were visiting my in-laws in PA and I grabbed a chance to go to Marshall's...on the back clearance isle were these dishes (I noticed the tea cups first!)and when I turned them over to check for prices my heart jumped...$1 and $2 per piece(and I could have had place settings for 6)! I could not believe my find but was immediately bummed because there was no way I could get them on the plane with me. In sharing my discovery later my mother-in-law said she would have shipped them to me and I only wish I would have thought of that! Then she offered to go and get them for me(it's 45 minutes away and we wouldn't be able to go back before leaving) the next time she went to work. Well I got the call last week that the beautiful dishes were gone...sigh...so imagine my surprise and shock of discovering your blog and the very same dishes! Hope you don't mind, but I couldn't resist sharing my story! Loved reading on the little details and findings that went into creating your table!
