Metamorphosis Monday...or...A Triple!!

Welcome to another Metamorphosis Monday with our hostess with the mostest, Susan at Between Naps on the Porch! Be sure to visit her blog to see some wonderful before and after projects from Susan's beautiful home and to check the list of this weeks' participants!

Do you see this ugly duckling? This is a find from a recent trip Goodwill hunting with my friend Linda at Nina's Nest. I love anything with grapes, but that color...!!

However, for $2.92, I'll see what I can do! You can't really see it here, but the pitcher is marked Lelia Ceramics May 1969...almost exactly 40 years old!

So....a few coats of white spray paint (just $1.00 a can at Walmart) and...

...voilà!! Can you even recognize it?? See how nice it looks with my blue and white Spode?

Or even with my Red Cliff ironstone!

And...taaa daaa...here is the picture that is in the center of my header! It has become a star! lol

You will have to use your imagination for transformation number two! I found this coffee butler at a thrift shop all black and tarnished and immediately remembered a recent post by Savvy City Farmer in which she had rescued one of these lovelies and asked us to help save them from the landfill! How could I refuse? I polished this baby up so fast that I forgot to take any before pictures! Isn't it amazing?

And here is number three! Where?...you are asking. It's me!...after treating myself to breakfast this morning with my Lunéville china and my new silver coffee butler! I feel like a new woman...pampered and special!! lol I hope you are doing the same for yourself!
Thanks for dropping by! Please be sure to head on over to Susan's to continue your visits and to see some wonderful transformations!!

  7. Wow Debbie, I would have never thought of spraying the ironstone. The pitcher is absolutely stunning painted white. It just looks gorgeous. I also really love the silver coffee carafe. I gave one of those to my daughter years ago and she still uses it a lot. I love to use the old silver, so pretty and has such a wonderful patina when it's freshly polished. You should also pamper yourself, I think we all need to remember to do that. Love your new items. Just beautiful. Hugs, Marty

  11. Oh, Debbie, I love the transformation of the grape pitcher! The inside was white, are you going to be able to serve with it? Or use it for flowers? It so beautiful. This make me think of things in a different way! What a wonderful idea! I love the coffee butler, and the cup beside it! I going to have a Tea Party for my Birthday April 5th. I will be doing this just once a year. I would love for you to join me this day, by giving a tea party. I just know the coffee butler could be used as a tea pot! I love it so much. I need to go shopping in GA! What wonderful treasure you GA girls are finding!

  15. I can't believe that you can spray paint a piece of china -- looks wonderful! And it is always nice to find "black" silver and bring it back to life. That's a great useful piece as well.

  17. Great makeover on the pitcher. It looks great with your spode. I also love the coffee butler. I think I may have one of those somewhere. Time for a hunt, because it does make for a festive morning cup of coffee. Thanks,

  26. Debbie, That was amazing! I would NEVER have thought of painting a ceramic piece. Now I'll look at objects for their lines not just as they are. Great post & yummy breakfast too! ♥

  27. It's great how you spray painted that piece of ceramic! I have a utinsil holder I've been wanting to replace - I love the shape & size but not the colour. I wonder if I could spray paint it?! So... any kind of spray paint? Nothing special?? Your ceramic pitcher looks so much like ironstone or milk glass!

  29. Debbie, yes I did bid on the flatware and I won the First Love 90 piece for $ 67.00 and girl I couldn't wait to get my hands on it.
I have my husbands mother's set and I am trying to find piece for it to put the set back complete. It was bought in 1929. I have 7 set of flatware. So funny my husband wants to know when I will have enought. Never!

  30. I love how that pitcher turned out. What a difference. Can you wash it with the paint you used or did you have to bake it on?

  31. I never would have thought of painting that cute little pitcher. You are BRILLIANT! It has taken on a whole new life; really fabulous. Did you use gloss or matte paint? Just regular spray paint? I am awed.

And I've already rescued one of those coffee butlers at a church thrift sale. Hmm... maybe two. I have a hard time resisting sad old silverplate!

  48. Spray paint has got to be the best kept secret. Don't you just love it.
Goodwill finds are like a box of chocolates, you never know whats inside, (until you look past the ugly ducklings and imagine what a swan it could be with a little spray paint)
    Love your blog

  49. You have such a way of making everything look so much better ♥ I love your creativity.

  50. That pitcher turned out great! I'm all about a can of spray paint, especially from WalMart. My theory is, if it has a surface, it can be painted any color you want it to be.
I also have one of those silver coffee carafes. Only I use it for serving tea with one of my tea sets that doesn't have a matching tea pot. :)
    Have a great week.

  51. I AM amazed at the transformation of the pitcher! Love the coffee butler - and saw it at SavvyCityFarmer too...(she has been a friend since we were young newlyweds) Love your personal metamorphosis - that charming table layout would be a treat indeed!

  53. Hi Debbie...

Girlfriend, I'm with you...anything with grapes on it...I can't turn away! hehe! Well, I just love how that little pitcher turned out after you gave it a coat of white spray paint! It looks fabulous and right at home with all of your other pretties (Ooooh, I love red cliff) You know, I didn't think you could paint glass that had a smooth, glossy finish...of course, I've never tried. How does it hold up? I've got all kinds of glassware (like a set of canisters) that I would love to paint! Hmmm...my wheels are a turnin' here...hehe!

Love your coffee butler too! You got some great "treasure finds" Girl! I'm so happy for you!!!

    Love ya,
    Chari
