When you enter my home, you are greeted by a basket filled with an assortment of pumpkins and gourds. I am always fascinated by the variety of shapes and colors that are available and even found a few new-to-me gourds among them this year! My favorite bouillotte lamp adds a classic French touch to the chest. The lamps have an interesting history associated with gambling if you'd like to read about them here. Please forgive me, but when I talk about France, the French teacher in me just comes right out! ;-) That's my daughter's third grade prize-winning art from the Festival of Trees waaay back in 1988!
I love mums...our classic fall flower! The French would find it strange, however, since they think of them as funeral flowers! Imagine what they must think to see us all decked out in them! lol I have added some in a pretty orange hue to a white tureen. I can't wait until they are in full bloom! A little frenchy boy, a thrifting find from several years ago, stands guard over my new fall love....
...the prettiest pumpkin that I have ever seen! Yes...it's real! It almost looks like a painting, doesn't it?
Another pumpkin is nestled among my collection of vintage French Quimper pottery. I'm so smitten with that little man and woman that I have even made a pilgrimage to the HB Henriot factory in Quimper, France! You can get a closer look at my collection here.
My mantel is fairly neutral this year...quite a change for me. But with all the activity in my home, it's nice to have a little quiet spot! Simple white pumpkins with fall leaves and berries are the theme! And yes...those are plates, added for a little architectural interest.
For the wreath, I mixed silk mums with faux pumpkins against a background of fall foliage. I love the contrast and the mix of textures!
There's more of the same on the mantel along with votives and pillar candles to add a glow in the evening. They are actually flameless and work on a timer so I can enjoy them every night! The wooden lanterns are my daughter's. I think they add a rustic country feel!
But here are the stars of my fall additions...my Slipcovered Tristan Chair and matching ottoman from Soft Surroundings! I love the French ticked linen and I especially love that I can remove and wash the slipcovers...very important with a five and six year old in the house now! They are just perfect for my home...and so very frenchy, too!
And...I have one last little bit of French Country to share with you...my ticking and toile pumpkins, made with real pumpkin stems! They were easy and inexpensive to make and add the perfect frenchy touch! You can see how I made them HERE.

I just sent you a pin of a dish I cannot identify. I ordered it from a seller on etsy, and it arrived broken. The bottom of the dish/bowl didn't have any markings. I would love to find out the name of the pattern. I already tried Replacements, but they couldn't identify it. I would appreciate any help you could give!
ReplyDeleteThanks- Laura McGregor
