Indoor/Outdoor Lighted Patriotic Garland

I’m excited today to join the talented bloggers at Celebrations of Home for our monthly share…and this time we are going patriotic! With Memorial Day coming up in a couple of weeks (Can you believe it?) followed quickly by Flag Day and then the 4th of July, it’s time to get my craft on! And I love how this one turned out…my INDOOR/OUTDOOR LIGHTED PATRIOTIC GARLAND!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Indoor-Outdoor Lighted Patriotic Garland supplies
Here’s what you will need:
  • Strand of indoor/outdoor mini lights (Mine came from Hobby Lobby)  I have chosen to fold mine in half for a shorter garland with more lights.
  • 1/3 yard of seven different fabrics in red, white and blue
  • Florist wire
  • Jute twine for hanging

And here’s what you will do:
  1. To create a shorter garland with the lights placed closer together, fold the string of lights in half and wrap with florist wire to hold in place.
  2. Wrap the wire so that the lead-in portion without lights is accessible to make plugging it in easier.
  3. Cut the fabric into 1 1/2 inch wide by 13 inch long strips. Sort the strips in the order in which you wish to tie them for easier access.
  4. Tie the fabric to the light string using single knots.
  5. Add loops from jute twine to each end to hang.

And there you have it! I love the colorful fabrics and the fact that it can be used indoors or out! Mine will eventually go on my mantel since the little grands seem to appreciate a little bling!

But until then it can be hung outside to add some red, white and blue to our holiday cookout and go into the night with its colorful lights! And…you could do this for any holiday just by changing the colors!
