Pottery Barn Inspired Faux Succulent Wreath

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Pottery Barn Inspired Faux Succulent WreathI have been wanting a faux succulent wreath for my front door for quite a while now but the price has always been prohibitive. So you know I fell in love when I saw the one at Pottery Barn, but at $100...yikes!...once again it was out of reach! The sheer number of plants that I would need to make my own even made a DIY version too expensive. Then I made a surprising discovery that finally made this wreath affordable!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Pottery Barn Inspired Faux Succulent Wreath suppliesOn a recent trip to Dollar Tree I spied a wonderful little collection of potted faux succulents and knew I had what I need at last! I also loved the assortment and size...perfect for my wreath! So now I could make my wreath for cost a total of about $25...1/4 the cost of the Pottery Barn version! Wooo hooo!

Here's what you will need:
  • Grapevine wreath (bought with a coupon at Hobby Lobby)
  • 20 or so faux succulents (from Dollar Tree)
  • Reindeer moss (bought with a coupon at Hobby lobby)
  • Hot glue gun
  • Elmer's glue
  • Jute twine (to hang the wreath)

  1. Remove the plants from the pots, making sure to leave the little spikes in place.
  2. Arrange the plants on the grapevine wreath in a pattern that pleases you.
  3. Using a glue gun, attach the plants to the wreath, being careful not to burn yourself.
  4. Tear off bits of the moss and, using Elmer's glue, attach the moss in the bare spots. Be certain to use Elmer's glue for this part since you will need to press the moss down with your fingers and do not want to be burned!
  5. Tie the twine in a loop at the top.
  6. Enjoy!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Pottery Barn Inspired Faux Succulent WreathAnd here it is at last...my faux succulent wreath! And for only $25 I couldn't be more pleased! I think I will hit Dollar Tree for a few more of those succulents, too, since I have another project in mind for them!

Baby Kitty says he thinks it's fun to think...errr...outside of the box when it comes to wreaths! You can use some other surprising items as well...

...such as flower pots! Another spring favorite is my EASY FLOWER POT WREATH! It was so much fun to make and you can fill the pots with whatever you wish! How about you? Do you have some ideas for unusual items or plants that can be used in a wreath?
Remember to pin it!

  1. Isn't it great when one makes something so much cheaper with a little shopping research? Your wreath looks just as gorgeous as the one from PB !!
I too made a piggy chalkboard very cheap and taking the short cut for DIYing. I am so pleased!

  4. I love how it turned out, Debbie! Although I am not really good at wreath making you made it seem so easy, so I have to give this a try. Thanks for sharing!

  5. I just went to my dollar store today hoping to find faux succulents for a project I have in mind. Sadly, I struck out. But now at least I know they do carry them, so I'll keep searching! Love your wreath!
