Vintage French Spring Vignette

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Vintage French Spring VignetteWith temperatures in the 80s this week, I am feeling like spring has finally arrived here in the South! And…I have a few new special goodies to share, too. A vignette with a vintage French flair seemed like just the way to do that!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Vintage French Spring Vignette Sooo…I headed to the garden shop for a few flowers. I was excited to find just what I was looking for…purple violas! Are you familiar with them? They are little teensy-weensy pansies. In fact, they almost look like violets to me. I planted them in some simple white egg cups that I found at Ross (6 for $4.00) several months ago and had been saving to share with you! Love them! :-)

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Vintage French Spring VignetteI also love the new little faux chalkware lamb that I found at Wisteria. Isn’t he adorable? Lambs and sheep just seem so French to me! I always think about Jeanne d’Arc, my favorite historical figure, who was a shepherdess as a girl.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Vintage French Spring Vignette And this is my super-easy new project…a thrift store frame painted with Annie Sloan Old White chalk paint and then distressed. I dressed it up with a burlap covered insert…

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Vintage French Spring Vignette …and then added a little jute twine “clothesline” and used tiny clothespins to attach some vintage letters to spell merci. They were a gift from my sweet friend Pat…love them!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Vintage French Spring Vignette I made a few holes through the insert to add more jute twine and tied on one of my favorite vintage silverplate forks just for fun!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Boxwood and French ScriptYou might recognize the frame from the first time I showed it to you…to show off my Ballard Designs bargains last year.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Vintage French Spring VignetteAnd there you have it…my vintage French spring vignette! Now I have my fingers crossed that spring is really here and I can plant the rest of my flowers outside!

Cat TVAs for the staff, Cat TV has once again become their favorite activity now that the birds are back, another sure sign that spring is here! What about you? Are you seeing signs of spring at your house?

  5. Very cute...you are so creative! I have to say, too, that I'm incredibly jealous of the beautiful weather you're enjoying! I thought we were doing so well here with the return of sunshine and temperatures finally in the 40's...until I read "80's" in your post. That's Wisconsin weather for you, lol.
