{Super Cheap} Pottery Barn Inspired Numbered Baskets

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT {Super Cheap} Pottery Barn Inspired Numbered Baskets Don’t you love it when a make-over comes in at a bargain price? If you know me, you know that I am a {cheapskate} thrifty person and love to copy those high-end designs on a dime! Well…this has got to be one of my favorites because it was under $5.00! Woo hoo!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Faux Enamel French Number Plaques You may remember these DIY enamel-look French number plaques that I did about a year and a half ago. I loved them at the time…

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Faux Enamel French Number Plaques …and I put them on the bookshelf in my black and white toile guest bedroom. I have been very happy with them, but a big change recently has me making some updates in that room. My thirteen-year-old grandson has begun using that room when he comes over for a visit! He has simply outgrown the twin bed in his old room. He is now taller than his Granny! (No…say it isn’t so!)

Baby Kitty Baby Kitty is insisting that I make some changes in that room to give it a little more masculine edge. Unfortunately, he understands my tendency to baby only too well as proven by his name! “Sheesh! A grown-up tom cat named Baby Kitty!” He prefers to be called BK.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Pottery Barn Inspired Numbered Baskets Instructions So here’s what I did:
  1. I bought some random house numbers at Home Depot at $1.50 per number…three for a total of $4.50! Yippee! I did not remove the old numbers, but simply turned the baskets around in case I change my mind later.
  2. I threaded some jute twine through both of the holes…
  3. …and pushed the ends through the spaces in the basket using a pair of scissors. I tied the twine on the inside…
  4. …and taa daa! There it is! Could it be any easier or cheaper?

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Pottery Barn Inspired Numbered Baskets What do you think? It does have a crisper, more masculine look! And...duh!...why hadn't I thought of this before?!

Pottery Barn basketsAnd it almost looks like those numbers that are always attached to the Pottery Barn baskets in the background that never seem to be anywhere in the catalog! lol And I am sure mine would be waaay cheaper even if you could find them!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Pottery Barn Inspired Numbered Baskets And now here’s the bookcase with the new numbers on the baskets! Much more masculine, huh? And do you see the little galvanized tub filled with books?

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT French Farmhouse Style...from Tractor Supply It’s the same on that I showed you here that I found at the Tractor Supply Company! I love it!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT French Ticking and Vintage Camembert Label Pillow And I bet you have already guessed that my French ticking pillow with the vintage Camembert label is going in the updated guest room as well! Yep…some changes are on the way, so stay tuned to see what else I have up my sleeve!

I love decorating with numbers and have been doing this for years, just drawn to them..sometimes the commercial tags from staples are cool, the ones with the strings attached then I stamp numbers on them and have the in the glass cabinet...love all your pictures with the numbers, they never go out of style...Phyllis

  14. Love the new numbers on the storage baskets! Ingenious, too, that you left the old ones on the other side. I think that side is great, as well. I adore pictures of poultry and the pillow is wonderful. Cannot wait to see the guest room revamp!

  15. The new numbers look great- I love the way you find these decor ideas at non-decor places. I am a little disappointed that you kept the old tags, though- I was kind of hoping you were going to give them away. Ha! :D

  24. I have yet to visit your blog without being inspired out of my mind. Every time I see photos of things in your home my poor old mind is buzzing like crazy. Love the basket #'s, I'll have to scope out Home Depot or Lowe's for those.
I want to get some sea grass baskets like yours to put in our tv stand. There are doors on it now but I want to open it up more and put baskets on the shelves with cd's in them. Just want a change. The stand is black and I'm not in mood to paint it right now so will try to change it with the #'d baskets. Thanks for the wonderful ideas.
Know what you mean about grandkids being taller than us. All ours (6) are taller now, even the 13 yr. old granddaughter. My youngest "kid" is 43 now, oldest is 53. Aaaarrrgfgghhh. how did that happen?
I love seeing your adorable cats. They're so cute, especially BK. Pets sure make life interesting don't they? We have an orange kitty, about 11 and an almost 5 yr. old black lab/border collie. They keep us hopping, (mostly to open door so they can go in/out it seems constantly). I think of all the exercise I get jumping up to do their bidding, lol. Do your cats get cabin fever in winter? Ours does, gets crazy and runs thru house with dog. I try not to get upset, after all we did raise 4 kids who used to do the same thing. Happy days
