I have a confession…and this blog is called Confessions…right? There’s something...well, not pretty...hiding in this picture of my living room! Can you find it? (Please don’t say my dragon wing lamp because I love it…only $12 at Goodwill! lol)
Here…let’s try it from another angle. Do you see where it might be hiding? Anyone? Anyone? If you said in the basket, you might just be right! Let’s have a peek!
Oh, dear…yes, there it is! My ten-year-old old fashioned phone! lol Sorry, but I just can’t get rid of it! Why? Well…er…it seems that I am forever misplacing my cordless phone! Do you do that? I have to page it and wait for the beep…under the covers, between the sofa cushions, in the garage! But I can’t lose this one! I just pull out the basket and answer it! Hey…works for me!
And here’s another little secret…the other basket holds my fall pumpkins…which are still in perfect shape so I can’t throw them away! lol And just where did I get the inspiration for my “under the table tablescape”?
Why, Pottery Barn, of course! I love this look…baskets under tables, such as this wonderful console table complemented by a pair of baskets filled with old books and magazines!
Or this console table with a terrific hinged basket underneath!
Or how about this one with an old suitcase and books stacked below! Love it!
Or my favorite…this wonderful table with a vignette under it…but I think you really need a shelf to have this look.
So I was excited when I found this basket at Goodwill this week for only $5.00…yaaaay! It’s a nice Pottery Barn-esque one, too…just the right size! Of course, Baby Kitty had to inspect it! It seems to have passed!
And there it is! I am not showing you the before with my ugly phone just sitting under the painted chest! You will have to imagine it! But doesn't it look stylish now? Something else is different, too. Do you see? I am trying it with a stack of books instead of another basket. Which do you like better?
And on top..my grandmother’s old dough bowl filled with vintage book bundles, vintage French postcards and a starfish! My little frenchy boy that I found at Goodwill for $3.93 is looking on.
But ultimately, it was our own Miss Isabella who decided what looks best under the table…and I think she is right!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed a little peek at my under the table tablescape! Please visit these wonderful bloggers and their beautiful blogs to see what they are up to and to find a list of this week’s participants!

love baskets, you have used them all well. I just always feel like I am stealing at GW. I'll put something in my basket and look around to see if anyone saw me. Or wants to fight me for it. haha
ReplyDeleteI love it!!! And at least you have a phone...we got rid of ours and solely rely on cell service now. I am not sure we are very smart??? Love your vignettes!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the basket under your table and what a great idea with the phone! Your home is beautiful I just LOVE that table and love the vignette you created on top of it, so pretty! Have a great weekend, Martina
ReplyDeleteI agree, we must use all the space available for storage and make it pretty at the same time. This is a good post.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to utilize the empty space. I love it! And it looks beautiful in your room, and, LOL, you are smart, good place for the phone!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Your posts have given me a new obsession. I already loved everything Pottery Barn and "frenchy"... but now I'm hooked on GW! I have found the best bargains there!! Thanks for the inspiration and opening my eyes to the ultimate bargain shopping.
ReplyDeleteGreat basket! You "nailed" the PB inspired look! And, your beautiful bowl filled with goodies is a great centerpiece to your tabletop vignette! Great job, Becca
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie....I like both of the looks, but I think I'm a little partial to the stack of books with the basket. You just can't beat books! Also, those phones are great when the power goes out....cordless doesn't work, but the cord takes a licking and keeps on ticking! Beautiful tablescapes...both on and under! Linda
ReplyDeleteDebbie, you sure pulled off the PB look, and you and I have the same idea, never throw out the old phone, never know when I might need it. I love your hiding place better that mine, (behind the end table). Got to go looking for a basket.........Oh, I couldn't agree with you more about Isabella, she looks so purrrrrrfect there.

Debbie, I love your chest, it is just fabulous and the basket is such a great idea. It looks perfect. Your vignette on the table is gorgeous and I love your pictures on the wall also. So pretty. You find some of the neatest things. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI think yours looks prettier than Pottery Barn! and I am sure cute Miss Isabella would agree!
ReplyDeleteDebbie, your vignette is nicer than the PB ones. I think I like it the best with one basket and one beautiful kitty...that chest is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteDeb I loooove baskets and I think they look amazing just about anywhere. I think it just adds to the charm of your tables vignette. I have two stacked under a table of mine in my family room holding the ever precious design magazines that I can't seem to get rid of. I see more baskets coming in my life they are a great holder of many things! OOOh I bet if you said that in French it would sound so pretty, xo Kathysue
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie,
ReplyDeleteYour table top is lovely. I also like the look of baskets placed under furniture. They are great for storage and provide texture.I usually hide favorite magazines in mine and your idea of putting your land phone in one is ingenius! I do think though, that the very attractive Miss Isabella looks so much better next to the basket than the books do:)
Debbie, LOL I know what you mean about losing..er.. misplacing cordless phones. I really like BOTH of your under the tablescapes.. but I agree Miss Isabella is the perfect look. Her fur color coordinates so well with the basket. :) She obviously has given it her stamp of appproval.
ReplyDeleteBy the way.. I love that chest. Is is new?
Debbie I love baskets and under tables is a great way to add more storage and to hide those things we need but don't want seen! We keep a 'real' phone in the house also. I agree Miss Isabella is the best accessory with the basket! hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteGreat styling, Debbie. Love the under the chest look. Isabella seems quite comfy there.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping the basket trend continues, cause I got me some ideas! Ha! Thanks for sharing! Sandi
ReplyDeleteOf all the vignettes, I truly like yours best. Especially the last one with the books and the kitty! She knows about the uneven number rule in vignettes...and kitty makes three! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI have a post with my kitties...come visit!
xoxo
Andie
Hi lovely lady, I also love baskets for all my books !! Love your sweet Kitty so sweet.
ReplyDeleteI miss seeing you on my Tablescapes ~~~come over and see my [French Country Side]
I hope you have a nice weekend.
xxoo
Diane
Very clever, Debbie! I decorate under tables too, mostly with boxes and baskets too...Christine
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT!!! I could do that too! I love it better with thew stock of books for you...it's neater and has more style. Such fun post, thanks for sharing, I'm going to see what I can do.
ReplyDeleteFABBY
Debbie,
ReplyDeleteAdore your "under the table' look in your lovely home! Baby Kitty and Miss Isabella are so helpful!(Much like Maurice.HA!)I've used baskets under the large end tables (now on the lower level) since their purchase 16 years ago. We use them to store quilts and throws for our cooler climates on the prairie (or for me when the AC is on). Since moving here 9 years ago, I've placed my French wire baskets under the entry hall table. In the "dream home" they were atop the kitchen cabinets. I think Pottery Barn is truly on to something big here! Thanks for sharing and give my best to your staff!
Fondly,
Pat
Well you've decorated us under the table for sure! I would NEVER argue with a cat....she looks perfect!
ReplyDeleteYour vingette looks wonderful and I love the baskets under the table. Great idea for hiding the phone!
ReplyDeleteKitty looks perfect under there too.
hugs
Sissie
As usual Kitty steals the show! Love the new look and I like it best with the books!
ReplyDeleteSoon another grandbaby?
Are you babysitting a lot like I am?
I love it but it does wear me out a bit!
Hugs,
Cindy
I misplace my phone too...and reading glasses.....and pens, well you get picture! I love your solution and I love finding things at Goodwill that look like they came from Pottery Barn! Hope you're having a great weekend, Mary :O)
ReplyDeleteDebbie love the baskets but you always do a great job in your home and i see the kitty loves it as well happy weekend
ReplyDeletePattie
Just worked a ad for pottery Barn and I love how creative they are~! Their staff was phenom~... certainly easy to see how they can inspire us, it is comfortable living to be sure :) Just as you have shown, take an inspiration, switch it to fit your needs and VOILA :)
ReplyDeleteHappy to be able to drop by, I haven't been in blogland...for ages~!!
I love the basket look and I did notice the theme running through the last PB catalog. Your cabinet is just stunning and I like the dragon wing lamp!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
The basket looks great Debbie! Love finding something so useful that's also pretty:@)
ReplyDeleteI love the basket...what a great idea...
ReplyDeleteI love the basket look as well, plus it keeps everything organized! Great job on the vignette!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this post very much. Love the idea of putting a phone in a basket like that. We are always looking for our cordless phones. I have several places where your under the table ideas would work. I am inspired to return to my Goodwill shopping I have not been doing much of that lately.
ReplyDeleteYou done good. Richard at My Old Historic House
ReplyDeleteI just love baskets and use them for storage, too. Those and hat boxes. Nothing prettier than Miss Isabella.
ReplyDeleteDebbie,
ReplyDeleteI'm lovin' the look of the baskets under there...you can never have too much storage!
Blessings,
Linda
Love this display! it looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie, In my opinion, both the two baskets AND the basket with books both look great, so just change it out now and then for your own fun. Of course my favorite is Isabella..pretty thing that she is!
ReplyDeleteI still have one phone like yours. It is down in my workroom as I often go down there to work and forgot to bring a cordless down!
Have a great week!
Donna
Great and stylish storage. You did well at Goodwill. I have never been to one of their stores. Must check one out soon!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great Debbie! But then everything you do always does *winks* And I like the "Isabella" accessory best also! But if she won't linger then I vote the books. LOVE that little french boy!! Vanna
ReplyDeleteSo if I call you and a get a MEOW, I know I have the right number! :)
ReplyDeleteI was in PB outlet Fri. Got a cushion as long as my couch for 2.99, and some "natural" looking rabbit place card holders, that look like mice to me, for .99. :)
Love the new look.....very clever place to hide your phone! You know what I did?? I went and bought a cordless phone with 4 phones!!! lol Problem solved! Thanks for sharing..I think your cat found a new place to hide...love it!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Perfect solution! I also struggle with "where to hide the phone and cords"!! One time I lost our cordless and whn I called it, it was in the coat closet in my coat pocket!! Thank goodness for pagers!
ReplyDeleteStop by Pandora's Box for a chance to win some vintage linens
For those of you who have lost your phone and don't have one in a basket, go to your computer and type in www.ican'tfindmyphone.com. Type in your number and it will ring for you.
ReplyDeleteYou are kidding! I love it!
ReplyDeleteYou nailed the look of PB. I adore stacks of books but I adore cats more♥
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Debbie! That first shot, hidden secret and all is absolutely magazine worthy!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Great job. New follower here!!
ReplyDeleteYou did a really great job! I love the 'over and under' technique you used to style that gorgeous chest! I agree with you about cordless phones...mine are always uncharged or lost.
ReplyDeleteDebbie, thanks for joining the party and don't drown this week!
ReplyDeleteMiss Isabella is certainly stylish under there. Just wait until Pottery Barn gets a hold of that styling idea!
ReplyDeleteNote to self...get an old fashioned phone. You are right about never being able to find the cordless phone!
Hi Debbie...this is a great post. I saw your link at Kim's. I am a Pottery Barn stalker as well so I love your inspiration. Your chest is just beautiful and better than anything I have ever seen at Pottery Barn! Well done! ~Ann
ReplyDeleteI love that chest! I like to decorate under tables with baskets also! Very Pretty :)
ReplyDeletelooks wonderful!!! I just love baskets too!!!
ReplyDeleteEverything you do is cute, Debbie, and I mean EVERYTHING. And you find the best deals EVUH!
ReplyDeleteLove you...
XO,
Sheila :-)
THis looks fantastic! Love your display on the chest too!
ReplyDeleteBut my favourite has to be Isabella as a display!!
Hi Debbie, I love using baskets in decorating. Yours is wonderful and such a great idea to hide the phone! The vignette on your chest is also very pretty. Thanks for sharing this at my Open House party.
ReplyDeletexo,
Sherry
Hate to tell you this but my phone has your phone beat....ours is 33 years old! The reason we keep it is so that we will still have phone service if the electricity goes off. I turn off my cell when I'm home and like you I tend to misplace the cordless! I love your baskets...I have a huge basket I found at a thrift store awhile back. It's under a cabinet and holds the grandkids' books. I think I like the basket of pumpkins versus the books but there are many other things you could use that would look great too. I'm off to look at the rest of your beautiful blog!
ReplyDeleteDebbie, I read this on my email feed, then forgot to come back and leave a comment earlier. So here I am again, enjoying the details of this post. It's fun! I immediately phoned my sister after reading this to see if she knew what had become of our "old black family phone". Still missing! I hope one of my nieces or nephews thought to take it when my mother sold her home. I certainly didn't think about it. :-(
ReplyDelete~ Sarah
Hi Debbie, I believe a girl can never have too many baskets! They look great and corral our stuff. I enjoyed reading your nest baby shower post, so many great ideas. I'll be following from the nest eclectic. Would love to have you visit sometime.
ReplyDeleteJodie
My philosophy: if it has a lid, it qualifies as storage! Great job on your under the table tablescape. Thanks for dropping by my post. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute & creative post, Deb....I just love seeing those kitties show up in the best poses.
ReplyDeleteI never would have thought to hide the phone in the basket but it sure works!!
I have a Polish handmade basket beneath on table in the great room but it just seems to overflow with newspapers & mags. :/
Re quilting...go for it! Its not hard at all & keeps one's mind sharp. I can get lost in thought for hours while working on a project. Good therapy!
That is a really clever idea. I just hate cords -- electric, phone, you name it! You just can't hide them sometimes, but now that I've seen this little secret, maybe more will be hidden away.
ReplyDeleteCAS
Looks great! I didn't notice the phone in the picture. Amazing those little pumpkins are still hanging in there! Mine shriveled up and needed to be chucked months ago!
ReplyDeleteAbsoutely picture perfect!!! I didn't notice the phone at all....genious to hide it in the basket. :)
ReplyDeleteLove baskets! They are great for storage. Hiding your phone in one is so clever! Thanks for all the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI love your basket that hides the phone but especially Ms. Kitty. I stack things under things all the time. Love that look. :)
ReplyDeleteWow! What a gorgeous home! I love the baskets and containers used under furniture! Great storage ideas! And the bread bowl...with the starfish and books...AHHHHhhhh! I love it! ♥
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie!
ReplyDeleteFirst off, I LOVE your painted chest! Just gorgeous. And the basket under is a great find! perfect and a great deal! I like the idea of having the corded phone tucked away like that, because I do the same thing (lose my cordless all the time!). Although I love the stack of books, I think the furry cutie looks the best under there!
Thank you for joining me for my first TTF party! I hope to see you next week!
I so need to do this. And I already have one of those phones too!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
I LOVE it!! This is fantastic Debbie!! Something just like I would do!! I do not like seeing media, electronics, etc. in my spaces at all AND I too have a hard time finding the cordless phone! Why does it always get put somewhere that I can't remember putting it?! lol! Thanks for sharing at FNF! Highlighted you on FB today too! :)
ReplyDeleteI love your vignette and the basket that hides the phone. I thought I was the only one that called their own number! What is really bad is when your my age and rush to answer it,lol.
ReplyDeleteI love studying PB for great ideas! I think you need to leave a space open for the cat though, he looks irritated that you keep filling up his spots with baskets! I am having serious plate envy as I look around your blog...what do you hang yours with? I have just come up with a great idea that I am going to have to test before I post about it, but would like to hear your ideas!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE baskets, and have them all over my home. From where I sit, and can count 8 of them!! They are so pretty, and of course, useful.
ReplyDeleteI love your room, too. You have great style!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Beth.
Debbie, you're too cute! I really enjoyed this post. I must say, I like the basket with the books best. In my storage I have a "harvest gold" rotary dial phone that I used up until 6 years ago when I decided to just go with the cell.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the smiles and inspiration.
Janay
Love this look, and glad you're workin' it. trunks, baskets, suitcases, I have them under all my stuff. Glad to know I'm not just a pack rat. Thanks for linking up with VIF!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Debra
This is great inspiration. Love the looks you have shown and what you did with your under the table vignettes. I am in favor of decorating in every space. This looks really nice. Thanks for linking it up!
ReplyDeleteSherry
Gorgeous! You have such a flair for decorating and finding all the right pieces! I agree Isabella looks right at home and real cute under the table!
ReplyDeleteOh Debby, I am laughing about your phone. Yes, our cordless phone is lost all of the time! But how smart you are to keep that old one and hide it in the basket! Once again, I am jealous of your GW finds. Isabella is the perfect accent with your new basket. Thanks for linking up. laurie
