I chose three flavors to try... honey lavender, lemon and pistachio. I pulled out my favorite French faïence dinnerware…Lunéville Old Strasbourg....to serve them. The dinnerware has a special meaning to me because it is manufactured in Lunéville...a wonderful little town in the heart of the Lorraine region and only a short distance from the little town where I lived. You can get a peek at more of the dinnerware HERE.
In case you are not familiar with them, macarons (not to be confused with macaroons) are almond meringue-based cookies made famous by the shops of Laudrée and Pierre Hermé in Paris but coming from a humble beginning. You can read about their history HERE.
My favorite is the honey lavender macaron. It has that wonderful little hint of the lavender fields of the South of France and the version created by this shop has a little touch of edible gold...beautiful!
I love that they are not only yummy but they are pretty as well. And...hey!...I just realized that I bought them in Mardi Gras colors. Hmmm...note to self...remember to serve macarons at Mardi Gras for a little frenchy touch!
Are you wondering about pairing beverages with macarons? I found a wonderful list of suggestions to accompany the flavors HERE. I might also add for you Atlanta peeps that I found my macarons at Woops!
And now that I have memorialized my macarons in photographs, my grandson and I have ...errr... other plans for them. ;-) Now to have a little gastronomic voyage to Paris and the South of France...

Thank you for a taste of Paris. LOL!!! My daughter, granddaughters(18,16)and I are leaving for Paris in two weeks. We are so excited to see all the sights you have featured on your blog over the years. I will be bringing some macarons home with me to enjoy with my tea. Thank you for sharing France with me.
