Just in case you are not familiar with Pistoulet, its design is based on the charming book The Secrets of Pistoulet by Jana Kolpen…the story of a magical farmhouse in the remote French countryside where lovingly prepared meals feed and heal the wounded soul.
Each piece is decorated with the charming illustrations of Jana Kolpen and Mary Tiegreen…reflected in the colorful sunflowers, so typical of the South of France…
…and in the free-flowing vines, fruits and vegetables that decorate the pieces. Pistoulet just says French Country!
And now…my co-host Baby Kitty asks you to join us in imagining our visit to Pistoulet…
All who spend time there leave with their hearts and minds transformed.”
…The Secrets of Pistoulet
…The Secrets of Pistoulet
We invite you to join us at the table while our hosts, Madame Claude and Monsieur André, are preparing a meal for us!
Madame Claude has just returned from the farmer’s market in a near-by village and has heaped the bounty of fresh vegetables in the old wooden bowl in the center of the table.
She has carefully set a place for each of us, having anticipated our arrival. There is sweet butter from Normandie and a crusty baguette waiting for us on the rough-textured tablecloth, as is the custom in France.
The soft watercolor wash on each piece of dinnerware reflects the warmth of Provence…
…from the bright sunflowers on the generous soup bowls…
…and the freely rendered vines on the salad plates…
…to the stylized fleur-de-lis on the dinner plates...sweet reminders of sunny days in Provence.
The palette of Provençal colors continues on the chunky rustic mug…
…and the charming little dessert bowls…perfect for the ripe red cherries picked this morning by Monsieur André from Pistoulet’s own orchards!
Madame Claude has anticipated that we will be weary from our travels and has taken out her special tea for one and honey pot…
…and prepared a little goûter for us of a simple tartine…a thick slice of a baguette spread with sweet butter and drizzled with honey. She has thoughtfully brewed a little pot of our favorite English tea.
As we hungrily devour our tasty treat, smells of tonight’s simple country supper drift in from the nearby kitchen…a promise of one of her wonderful potages! I can feel myself starting to relax already…falling under the magical spell of Pistoulet!
The magical secrets of our French farmhouse do not have to end there…or exist only in our imaginations! Thanks to the generosity of the people at Pfaltzgraff and Lifetime Brands, you could have this set of Pistoulet dinnerware as your very own! It includes a twenty piece set of dinnerware with four each of the dinner plates, salad plates, soup bowls, dessert bowls and mugs. It also includes the special ten year anniversary Honey Pot and Tea for One. I am so excited that one of you will get to enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed mine!
