Pottery Barn Inspired French Valentine Pillow

I can’t wait to show you what I have been working on…my Pottery Barn inspired French Valentine pillow! You know what a big fat copy-cat I am, so as soon as I saw it on their web site, I knew I had to copy it! And best of all, mine was practically free since I already had everything I needed!

But if you know me, you also know that I had to frenchify it! :-) It has basically the same message…but in French!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Pottery Barn Inspired Valentine Pillow Graphic
Here is the graphic in case you want to make it yourself. It’s backwards so that you can use it as an iron-on transfer.

I just ironed it on to a piece of white duck and stitched it to red burlap! (That’s my sweater pillow with a burlap rose in the background. You can find a tutorial for it here.)

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Pottery Barn Inspired Valentine Pillow3I used an envelope-style closure for the back so that I could just remove the cover for easy storage. You can see my tutorial for making the closure here. You may notice that I seem to have become a pillow addict as well, so this allows me to use the same pillow form over and over and saves space. This one is down-filled and was a $3.00 bargain at Goodwill.

And there  you have it! It’s perfect for me…blending with my French country decor without being too cutesy! I still have a few more Valentine projects that I want to show you, so stay tuned for more! But I had better hurry…

staff…because Valentine's Day is one month from today! Hard to believe since here in the South we have been having a “heat wave” with temps in the 70s! The staff is enjoying having the windows open, but I am one of those weird people who loves cold weather! It won’t feel like Valentine’s Day to me without it! What about you?

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed a little peek at my frenchy Valentine pillow! Please visit these wonderful bloggers and their beautiful blogs to see what they are up to and to find a list of this week’s participants!

  1. Sure love your pillow, and thanks for including the backward graphics! I've not tried the transfer thing yet, but I am inspired and may give it a try later today. I don't have red burlap, but I did buy a nicely worn reddish linen shirt at the GW which should work nicely!
    Blessings,
    Susie

  3. So darn cute! I spent Saturday Goodwilling, trying to find a cute sweater to make a sweater pillow and I couldn't find anything! I think it's because in sunny Southern California it doesn't get cold enough for sweaters, darn it!
But I will keep trying. I would love a pillow like this for my mom, she's loves red and it would look gorgeous on her bed. Maybe I'll try it, thanks for sharing :)

  4. Another great project, Debbie! I don't do a lot for Valentine's Day either, so a pillow cover like this is just right.

  10. Debbie, If it wasn't for you there would be a lot more housecleaning around here. Your staff does an excellent job of entertaining Maui (a lone cat with two doggie sisters) when I leave one of their photos on the monitor. It's warm here as well......80ish in central Florida last week and this week. I live for the cooler days.

    1. Hi Deborah...I printed mine at 8x10 and it was perfect for my pillow size. I use Photoscape...a free download...to make it the size I want before I print it. I am sorry you are having problems...hope that helps!...hugs...Debbie

  54. Hi Debbie,

This morning I was enjoying a cup of coffee and admiring my pillow that I had made for Valentine's Day using your lovely iron-on graphic. I noticed for the first time that the stamp is on the right side, not the traditional left. Is there a reason for this? Thank you for sharing all your inspirations with us.

    1. We do place ours on the right, Kris. The French are supposed to also, but tolerate a degree of civil disobedience! lol The graphic is actually a photo of a real French "carte-télégramme" which included the printed image of the stamp as a part of the cost of the card.
