My Bargain Pottery Barn Santos Cage Doll

051 Look what came in the mail this weekend…my new bargain Pottery Barn Santos cage doll…for under $6.00! Woo hoo!

074 You may remember that I actually splurged and bought one last year…one with a beautiful expression that I love to showcase at Christmas.

038 And, yes, this one is definitely more primitive than the other and maybe not quite my style, but at that price, how could I resist her? I love the way the ex-voto heart is already carved on her chest! I spied her way back in early November and I have been waiting for her to go on sale!

028 Oh…and there is one thing I need to mention…she is only 6 1/2 inches tall!  Sorry! I had to tease you just a little! I have been wanting one like her, but they are all just soooo big and expensive! She’s actually an ornament with the little screw in her head removed.

012 But I think she will do very nicely atop my vintage book bundle…what do you think? I love the little extra pizzazz she adds! I think you may see a lot of her this year!

018 Thanks for playing along! I hope you don’t mind that I teased you just a little! Next, maybe I will buy a tiny farm with teensy goats to satisfy my goat obsession! Is there anything you’d like to have in a tiny version?

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed a little peek at my little Santos doll! Please visit these wonderful bloggers and their beautiful blogs to see what they are up to and to find a list of this week’s participants!

Hi Debbie, I went on-line to look for these several days ago and they were all sold out! Your miniature Santos is wonderful.
Thanks for joining my party and have a fabulous 2012.

she is so cute, Debbie! I saw some at Ballard Backroom - but a lot more expensive! She looks great on top of the book bundle. Linda

Silly!
I am in the middle of making one with an old barrel, mannequin body and plastic wings. I don't know for sure, yet, how I will do the head...but I am thinking...maybe painted styrofoam?
I have always wanted one taller than me but, as you said, they cost an arm and a leg (a pun!).
More on this as it develops!

Happy New Year!

xoxo

I love your mini Santos. Stein Mart has them and they are at least 12" tall. They were under $20.00 and they have a beautiful face. If you have Stein Mart check them out.

Debbie, she is darling. I like the fact that she is in miniature. Most small things appeal to me. LOL
And I like her chippy sweet face. Great find! She'll be perfect to tuck in among other treasures.

Now Debbie that was sneaky. I thought immediately that I am heading to PB to get me one!

She is as cute as can be and looks perfect atop your book stack.

I think she is darling. At first I thought you had made a mistake and meant you got her on sale for $60! lol Then, I see that you very sneakily CONFESSED that she is only 6" tall! You are SUCH a tease. She looks great with your books, too. xo Diana

Debbie... you do find the best things! When I retire, could I follow you around for about a week!

I knew the punchline, only because I had several of them in my hand at Pottery Barn, but the check-out line was SO long I put them back! I also had set of Santa mugs and now they are unavailable, even on-line. Darn!!

Love the post!

Definitely trick photography, she looked tall in photo number one. LOL

She is great. Our pottery barn did not have any of those. I would have scooped one up too.

Yes Debbie, I'd like myself in a teenier version! LOL!! She's very sweet, and just perfect for book bundles! xoxo

You rascal! You had me going. I thought you'd be moving furniture to find a place for her, but she's really a nice size for a small vignette. Hugs,

Wow! You did "get" me...I was on my way to PB website ASAP after reading your title. I did see that Sherry said they were sold out so I may venture to Stein Mart like another commenter mentioned. She is beautiful whatever size she is. Thanks for sharing her...I saw your post over at "Metamorphasis Monday".

Hi Debbie, We had this happen once with a horse. I kept reading this ad about a horse for sell. Everything sounded great, but I knew there had to be a reason for his really low price. After reading it about five times through I noticed how tall he was. My family still laughs at the sight of my 6 foot 5 inch husband on a Shetland Pony. Happy New Year, Cindy PS Come see my new giveaway if you haven't already.

How FUN! She is adorable in that miniature size & I bet you'll get way more use out of her around the house than the bigger model.

Hoping you're having a wonderful start to your New Year, Debbie! Stay HEALTHY & please pat the kitties for me? I just ♥ seeing them....they make me smile.

Hugs,
Rett

I got her too, Debbie! So cute and will work so well with different tabletop vignettes! I actually got two and am considering one as a giveaway.

Debbie,
It was so clever of you to reveal your doll's size by letting Baby Kitty show us!
Any post with Baby Kitty in it has to be good!

Love the tease, but what I want to know is, "How on earth did I miss this?" I am always buying on PB clearance. Love, love the bargains. There is a cottage piece I am drooling over right now. Still at $279 or something, hoping it comes down more. Your Santos looks right at home on your book bundle.

Debbie, you are cracking me up. You did have me fooled. I just bought a Santos recently at Tuesday Morning and I am really enjoying her. I agree that you should keep yours out all year long.

Just loved your story. The Santos doll is marvelous!

Love your post and looking forward to reading it as I am a brand new follower!

Debbie, loved your post. I had been eyeing her all during the holiday season. I finally broke down and bought her today. You really did get a bargain because she was still full price ($16) at my Pottery Barn. I got such wonderful deals on everything else, I bought her anyway. I thought about taking the screw out of her head, but didn't want to break her. Any tips on taking the screw out or not a big deal? As always, LOVE your blog!!

Confessions of a Plate Addict said...

Hi Yvonne! I just unscrewed it and it did take off a little of the paint on her head, so I just retouched it. There's a little spot where the wood stands up a tiny bit, but I decided it didn't matter since she is already chippy! Isn't she wonderful? Glad you got one, too!...Debbie
