Wooo hooo! It’s Monday and I have been saving some things to show you! First, I am joining our hostess with the mostest, Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Metamorphosis Monday! Be sure to stop by her beautiful blog to see some before and after projects from our friends in blogland! Also, I am also playing along with the undisputed queen of thrifting, Rhoda at Southern Hospitality for Today’s Thrifty Treasures. Be prepared to be amazed at the terrific bargains snagged by our fellow bloggers over the weekend!
Baby Kitty want to show you this wonderful old flatware I found while Goodwill hunting with my friend Linda at Nina’s Nest! This time, for a change, it was another lady stalking me while I dug it out of the flatware bin instead of the other way around! Victory! lol I couldn’t wait to polish up one of the grapefruit spoons! A lot of Wright's Silver Cream and elbow grease later and…
…taaa daaa! Aren’t they gorgeous? The three grapefruit spoons were 55 cents and the three serving pieces were $1.51! Incredible! All of this for just over $2.00!! Does polishing silver count as a metamorphosis? My elbows think so!! lol
The grapefruit spoons are Community (Oneida) silver plate in the Adam pattern. I found them online for…are you ready?…$10.00 each! And I really did need them, so that made them an even better deal!
Just look at the detail in the bowl of the spoon! Isn’t it beautiful??
But…the best surprise was this spoon! I bought the other two serving pieces to get it because I knew it was nicer than silver plate. And it was!! It turns out that it is coin silver...just a little less pure than sterling.
And look at this beautiful monogram! It's a Lownes serving spoon. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I found this one on Replacements for $60. Can you believe the stuff that people give away??
Here are a few more of my GW deals…this needlepoint/ petit point pillow cover for $1.61! I love it ! It’s in my bedroom now.
I also found this hand painted French cafĂ© au lait cup. It was 55 cents at half price…soooo…27 cents! I don’t know why, but I love things with other people’s names or initials on them. Françoise! I have your cup and I’m not giving it back! lol
And finally…I found the Pampered Chef bread tube that I have been wanting at our neighborhood garage sale! My sweet neighbor just gave it to me because I always catsit for her, sooo…free! Yippeee! I can’t wait to try it out! So that makes a total of just under $4.00 for this week's goodies! Wooo hooo!
And there you have it..my thrifting finds with a little metamorphosis thrown in! Please be sure to visit Susan and Rhoda to continue your tour of great before and after projects and fabulous thrifting finds! Thanks so much for stopping by! I’ll see you next time! A la prochaine!
Debbie, I can't believe the bargains you found. It's like they were there just for you! Way to go. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the silver! I've never even looked at odd pieces of silver in all of the years I'm been junk hunting, but have started to recently. I figured I have enough silver - service for 48 inherited from mother and grandmothers. But because of the blogs, I'm really getting into it. Those grapefruit spoons are neat and I don't have any. Must get out there and look!!!! Sally
