Fun with Maps and Chalkboards

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Fun with Maps and ChalkboardsSummer is winding down, Labor Day weekend is here and I think most of the children in our lives are back at school. Maybe it’s the teacher in me, but I couldn’t help but notice a few fun ways that school-related items were being used in non-traditional ways at The Scoop this week, so I pulled them all together for you! Here are some great ideas for using maps, globes and chalkboards!

Final DSC_0146 - Version 2 Ashley’s Dandelion Wishes shared a whole round-up of ways to use maps, including these origami globes strung together to create a garland from Poppytalk. Clever!

  3. HI Debbie!
I really love all your posts and they have given me some wonderful ideas. I am in the midst of making the linen tea towels...bought the fabric and have them all cut out. I have a question for you, however. When you sew the ruffle onto the towel, how do you finish off the raw edge? It does not show the back of the towel so I am trying to figure out how best to do it. Any help will be deeply appreciated! And...keep those super ideas coming our way!!

    1. Hi Diane! Glad you like them! I just trimmed the seam and then zig-zagged it. I have top-stitched it (pressed up) above the seam, but not usually. Hope that helps!...hugs...Debbie

  12. Debbie, those are some amazing features! A friend of mine gave me these modern trays that really aren't my style but they would look so cute made over in chalk paint and maybe some burlap. I better get busy. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful day! Toodles, Kathryn @TheDedicatedHouse
