Don’t you love them? They almost look real! In fact, I am just waiting for the little grands to stage an indoor snowball fight!
Here’s what you will need:
- A package of Styrofoam balls
- A white sweater (Mine came from the thrift store)
- A needle and thread
And here’s what you will do:
Place the Styrofoam ball inside the sweater sleeve and cut so that there is just enough fabric at each end to meet in the middle.
With a needle and thread, gather the edge of the opening and pull tightly. Close by knotting multiple times until the bulk of the raveled edge has disappeared. Don’t worry about being messy since the sweater fabric is very forgiving and hides a lot of the stitches! Carefully trim any excess bits of fabric. Repeat at the other end.
Here's the finished product! I am going to make some more of these little gems and add them to the lanterns on my winter front porch, too! I'll share that look very soon.
Now I just add some faux greenery to my grandmother's dough bowl, mix in some snowy pine cones and snowflakes leftover from my Christmas Dollar Tree finds and sprinkle in a little faux snow! Nestle in the "snowballs" and it's perfect!
Here's one more look. I love it...just the perfect amount of winter snow without saying Christmas! Now...if only we could get a little bit of the real thing!
Remember to pin it!

ReplyDeleteCute! But I have been scouring our local thrift stores for white sweaters since last fall wanting to make some candle sleeves with no luck. I think everyone is now snatching them up for various craft projects.

ReplyDeleteThose are so darn cute, Debbie! I'm gonna get a sweater and make some to pack away for next winter. I'm kind of into the Valentines Day decor right now.
