A French Country Spring

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT A French Country SpringSpring has finally arrived and I am excited, not only because it’s my favorite season, but because I am am joining a group of my fellow Francophiles to bring you a little peek into our homes…French Country style! Much of the rest of my house is filled with Easter bunnies and colored eggs in anticipation of the furry fellow’s visit to my little grands. But…I have reserved the breakfast room just for my style!  And nothing says French Country to me more than lots of texture and rustic touches!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT A French Country SpringOf course, there must be lambs! I love this little one with a vintage look and lots of rough texture!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT A French Country SpringIt wouldn’t be spring without tulips! I wrapped the pot in Kraft paper sheet music for an extra rustic touch.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT A French Country SpringI love moss but I can’t bring it in because it’s just too tempting for my feline staff! lol Sooo…a faux moss ball perched in a little vintage urn will have to do!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT A French Country SpringEggs are another necessary spring element so I added a little nest of them in pale blue to the base of…

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT A French Country Spring…my crazy amaryllis which has decided to bloom in the spring instead of its usual Christmas time display!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT A French Country SpringCorral it all in a big textured basket-y tray and there you have the centerpiece… saying that spring has arrived!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT A French Country SpringHere’s another angle so that you can see my monster amaryllis…Feed me, Seymour! lol Even its little offshoot is blooming! In the background you can see some of my treasures…my vintage Quimper pottery collection!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT A French Country SpringA few spring surprises are hiding among them…such as this little basket of pastel eggs…

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT A French Country Spring…and a few more eggs nestled in my favorite egg cups…a souvenir of my visit to the HB Henriot factory in Quimper, France. You can get a closer look at my collection HERE.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT A French Country SpringA little vintage chalkware lamb also takes his place among the pottery. Gotta love that little face!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT A French Country SpringAnd here’s another look! I am loving the way my favorites came together… galvanized metal, vintage-look elements and lots of green! Now I feel like spring has finally arrived at my house!

And if you are in the mood for more tulips, be sure to check out my easy DIY SPRING TULIP WREATH! I love the fresh spring look it's bringing to my front door!

  1. Debbie, the vignette is beautiful...I so love seeing your beautiful collection of Quimper. And, yes, Seymour is huge...I remember buying my very first amaryllis when I was in Florida...after Christmas I placed it on the bottom shelf of the potting bench and forgot about it...all of a sudden I am seeing something red peeking through the pots...it was blooming...and I had totally neglected it...maybe I need to do that will all my plants!..:)
Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Easter...enjoy your family!!!

  4. Debbie, how fun to have a collection you picked up yourself in France. I have always loved the charm of Quimper pottery. And those lambs...I am always on the hunt for one myself.

  6. Debbie, I love your centerpiece with the beautiful and timeless lamb. Of course, your Quimper is timelessly attractive! Funny about your monster amaryllis. Like many other plants this past winter, I guess nature just took a few side roads on its path. Happy Spring and Easter!

  17. Hi Debbie, Lovely lovelies. Spring is my favorite time of year too except when we get blasted with a spring blizzard (16 inches and counting!). Was wondering how one gets included in these group tours. Would love to be included sometime. Thanks so much.

  22. Love your Easter vignette! Obviously, I am a little late for Easter, but this is the first time I have seen your blog. I have been looking for lambs like the one pictured, can you give me some ideas about where to find some similar to yours?
